Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 12: The Last Day of School
(Jimmy's POV)
The following day, after Cindy & Libby had threatened to post that picture of me & Brobot online, was a school day, but I was too concerned about whether they would or not, but I wasn't too concerned to focus on my schoolwork & homework.
That issue bothered me for the rest of the school year until June 2nd. By that time, I was fed up with being in the shadows of not knowing whether they posted that picture online, so, right as I arrived at school on my jetpack backpack (I had missed the bus, again), I marched right up to Cindy after shutting it off & demanded, “Vortex, for the past several weeks, I have been in the dark of not knowing whether you & Libby posted that embarrassing photo of me & Brobot, but now, I demand that you shed some light on whether you did or not!!!”
“Well, Nerd-tron, I-,” she began, but was interrupted by the warning bell, signalling us to get to class or get a tardy note.
As she & I ran with the other students that had joined us, she panted, “I'm NOT about to let my perfect attendance record be shattered, & especially NOT on the last day of school!”
What did I care what she said? I just hurried along with her & the others & made it to our seats just as the tardy bell rang.
“BRRAAAWWK Good morning, children! Welcome to the laaaast day of school!!” Miss Fowl announced to us.
At that, we all burst into a huge cheer, extremely thankful that school was finally coming to a close for the summer.
“Yes, yes, I know, children, it's an exciting time, but we still have some work to do today BRAAWWK,” she added, then put in, “Let's begin with roll call, shall we?? Butch?”
“Here,” he replied.
“Oleander?”
“Here.”
“Courtney?”
“Here, Miss Fowl.”
“Nissa?”
“Present.”
“Cindy?”
“Here!” she replied kindly.
“Jimmy?”
“Present, ma'am,” I informed her.
“Carl?”
“Here!”
“Sheen?!”
“Here!!” he piped up.
“Libby?”
“Yo, I'm here!”
“Nick?”
“Yo,” he said, striking a stylish pose.
“Betty?”
“Here.”
“Britney?”
“Like, here!”
“Well, I guess that's everyone. Let's start with science, shall we BRAWK?” Miss Fowl told us. Then she got up from her desk & handed out the final science test of the year to each of us.
When I got mine, I looked over at Cindy & challenged, “You're goin' DOWN, Dork-tex!!”
“Not if I can help it!!” she quietly shot back at me, picking up her pencil & starting her test, like I & the rest of us were doing.
Forty-five minutes later, Miss Fowl called time, & we each gave our tests back to her to be graded.
When she finished with that, she handed them back to us.
Cindy showed me hers & told me, “I got 101%, Nerd-tron! Try to beat THAT!!”
I just showed her mine & declared, “Read it & weep, Vortex! I got 104%!!”
She gasped angrily & scowled at the front of the classroom.
Then I leaned over towards Sheen & asked, “What did ya get, Sheen?”
He shyly showed me his score.
My mouth dropped when I saw that he had gotten a “C”, of all things!! Then I saw a note at the bottom of the page that read, “Good job, Sheen! You just barely passed 11th grade! -Miss Fowl.”
When I finally found the words to speak about a minute later, I gasped, “Sheen, how in the universe did you manage to pass 11th grade & get a 'C'??!!”
“I just tried to guess at things that were actually related to the test's topics instead of UltraLord, & I managed to pull off a 'C'!! Awesome!!!” he told me excitedly.
Even Carl was shocked when he saw it. “Congratulations, Sheen! You SO beat my 'D+'!!” he managed to say.
“Yeah, I did good, didn't I?” Sheen said confidently.
The rest of the day was spent as a fun day, with no more schoolwork whatsoever! We had a stupendous time!
Later, after the bell rang that signalled the end of school, we went to our lockers. When I opened mine, I noticed a flyer flutter out of it. I picked it up & looked at it, slightly confused. It was an invitation to a summer camp called “Camp Sunnydale.”
Right at that moment, Cindy took the opportunity to approach me.
“Say, Vortex, did you get a flyer like this?” I wanted to know, showing her the flyer I'd received.
“As a matter of fact, I did, Neutron!” she told me, pulling a folded piece of paper out of her pocket & unfolding it so she could show it to me.
“That's weird,” I muttered to myself.
“What's even weirder is that I got one, as well!” Libby put in, who happened to be standing right next to Cindy, showing us hers.
Then I called Sheen over & asked, “Hey, Sheen? Did you get a flyer like this?”
“Yep! So did I!” he exclaimed, a puzzled expression on his face. Then he hollered to Carl, “Yo, Carl! Did you get one of these??”
“That's not possible...,” he told him, opening his locker, then picked up the paper that fluttered out & said, “Actually, I did, Sheen!”
“I also received one, as well! How unusual is THAT?!” Natalie added.
“This is SO unusual! What are the odds that all of us get the same camp flyer??!” I rhetorically asked, not really expecting an answer from anybody.
“I know, really?” Libby responded, a hand on her hip while looking at the camp flyer in her other hand.
Then I remembered something. “Hey, Libby? Did you or Cindy post that embarrassing picture online or not??!!” I sharply wanted to know, sporting a suspicious expression on my face.
“Lucky for YOU, we didn't, Nerd-bomb! Next time, you might not be that lucky!” Cindy warned me.
Then I looked at my watch & groaned, slapping my forehead in disgust.
“What is it, Jim?” Carl asked me.
“We missed the bus,” I informed him, highly annoyed.
“Oh, MAN!! My r-,” he started to say, but Sheen interrupted him, saying, “Don't even bring it up, Carl!!!”
“Sorry,” he apologized.
“Since we missed the bus, what are we gonna do, Neutron?” Libby wanted to know.
I sighed & admitted, “I guess we're gonna have to walk home, well, except for me, that is!”
“Why is that?” Carl asked, apparently confused.
I just rolled my eyes & told him, “On my jetpack, duh!!” Then I slipped it on, shut my locker, walked out the front door, & blasted off while the rest of them walked home.
When I arrived home, I saw Mom packing 2 suitcases. “Mom?? What are you doing?” I asked her.
“Packing for you & your sister's camping trip this summer!” she informed me. That was when Natalie finally caught up to me & came in with me.
“Thanks, Mom!” we thanked her in unison, then headed up to our room together to fix some of my malfunctioning inventions I'd neglected to fix until then. Surprisingly, she was very skilled in gadgetry, just as I was!
The next time we looked at the time, it was going on 10:30 p.m.! So we stopped what we were doing & got ready for bed. Then we each got into our separate beds & told eachother good night. “Goddard, sleep mode,” I told him sleepily, then Natalie & I drifted off to sleep as he shut himself off for the night.
I hope you enjoyed it! Reply ASAP, and I can guarantee you the next chapter REAL soon!!!

Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 13: Summer Camp
(Cindy's POV)
The following morning, I got up & got myself dressed, knowing that the Camp Sunnydale bus would be there any minute. I then grabbed my suitcase I'd packed the previous night & headed outside to the bus stop, but not before grabbing an energy bar & an orange juice container before heading out.
When I got there, I saw that Libby & Carl were already waiting for the bus.
“You're here already, Libs?” I asked her in disbelief, “Where's Sheen, Natalie, & Nerd-tron??”
“I dunno. I'm guessin' that Sheen's having a hard time stuffing all his UltraLord items into his clothes bag, & Neutron? Well, I think that dude's still asleep, like his sister,” she told me.
Then a familiar yet annoying voice caught my attention. “Libs, I don't think ya have to wonder where he is anymore, cuz here he comes,” I observed.
“Whew! I'm here, hold your applause!” Sheen gasped, putting his apparently heavy bags on the concrete sidewalk next to him.
“Hey, Sheen? Have you seen Jimmy & Natalie?” Carl asked him.
He just shrugged & replied, “I dunno. Probably just getting themselves up by now!”
I had to roll my eyes at that one as I thought, That brainiac better not make us LATE! Actually, I think I'd better go get them up, if they're still asleep, that is!! “I'm gonna go check & see if they're up, okay?” I informed them, heading over to Jimmy's place & walking in the front door without knocking. I then headed up the stairs & to the farthest door down the hall on the right & knocked furiously.
“Nerd-bomb, get your lazy butt up, 'cause the bus is gonna be here any minute!! That goes for you, too, Natalie!” I hollered at them.
His voice came from the inside of his room that said, “Vortex?! What are- Oh, never mind! Anyway, Natalie & I have BEEN up, gosh!!”
“Yeah, Cindy! Lighten up!!” Natalie agreed, “We're on our way out as we speak!!”
Within a minute or 2, they both emerged from the bedroom with Goddard at his heels, as usual, while carrying their suitcases. I headed back downstairs with them & out the front door to the bus stop.
“Well, it's about TIME you 2 got up!!” Sheen exclaimed, clearly trying to be funny.
“FYI, Sheen, we've been up since 7:30!” Natalie told him.
“Yeah, so give it a rest, will ya??” Jimmy added, a hint of amusement on his face, which I found rather cute on him!
Right then, the bus arrived, right on schedule! It opened its doors & we all climbed aboard, taking our seats as we wished.
After we left Retroville, I asked Libby, who'd taken a window seat right next to me, “Libs, do you have any idea of what camp will be like?”
“I don't know, girl, but I hope it involves s'mores, campfire songs, hiking, & crafts!” she told me animatedly.
“Me, too!” I agreed, & looked over at the rest of us.
Carl & Sheen were sitting together across the aisle, with Carl next to the window due to his tendency to carsickness. And Jimmy & Natalie were together behind Libby & I, with Natalie next to the window, chatting animatedly with him. She was clearly getting to know him better than she had before. They DID look cute together, after all! Oh, get it together, Cindy! He's all mine, & nothing's gonna change that! I'll make SURE of that! That's why I secretly snuck into his lab & took the love potion & stored it in my bag, in one of the outer pockets so I can get to it easily!! I thought slyly to myself, unknowingly getting a mischievous grin on my face.
Libby saw that & asked, “Girl, what are you thinking about?”
“Oh, nothing! Just a couple of practical jokes to play on Nerd-tron, is all!!” I told her in whispers, because he was sitting right behind me.
“Just don't make 'em to where he gets hurt or something like that, 'kay?” she whispered back.
I nodded my reply.
Right at that moment, the bus came to a halt. I looked out the window & saw that we were at camp already! Wow! Time flies! I thought.
The doors opened & we headed out with our luggage.
Unfortunately, I was right in front of Jimmy as we got out of the bus, & he asked me once we were on the ground, “Vortex, what's that sticking out of your bag?” Oops!
He bent over & pulled it out of the pocket & examined it carefully. Then he scolded me, “How many times have I told you to leave my things alone?? Are you aware that this is my modified love potion?!”
“Uh, yeah! Funny story about that!” I told him uneasily, laughing nervously.
“What exactly were you planning on doing with it?? Oh, never mind about that. Just don't take my things without permission again, okay?” he verified, slipping it into his hypercube he'd brought with him.
“Okay, Neutron,” I said begrudgingly.
Our camp counselors, whose names were Sarah & Randy, grouped us into 2 groups, the girls in one, & the guys in the other. Each group had their own separate cabin to use, of which I was very grateful.
After our luggage & sleeping gear was unpacked & organized, Sarah came into our cabin & informed us, “Okay, girls, now that your stuff is unpacked, it's time for the camp activities for the day!” And with that, she led us back outside with the guys, who were already out there with Randy. He had an Oriental look to him, but he didn't speak with an accent whatsoever. His hair was black & spiky, with brown eyes as dark as Libby's.
Sarah had long, red hair that was pulled back into a ponytail with a red scrunchie. I swear, her blue eyes were as dark as Jimmy's!! She spoke with a slight southern accent.
Our activities for the day were kayak races, which our team won, & a popsicle stick log cabin building contest, which the guys' team won (grrr!).
When we finished, the time was going on 7, so we ate supper & went back to our cabins for the night. We got ready for bed, then told eachother good night. I had the top bunk of one of the 3 bunk bed sets in the room, Libby had the bottom of that one, & Natalie had the bottom bunk of another bunk bed. We fell asleep within 20 minutes.
I'm glad you liked the previous chapter, Zoey! I hope you also liked this one, as well! As long as I get decent replies, I'll keep puttin' up new chapters, ok?? Thx!!

Chapter 14: Girl Talk
(Libby's POV)
I got up the next day & stretched, feeling relaxed & invigorated, ready to start the day. I got dressed & finished my morning routine, waiting for the other girls to awaken. While I was waiting, I listened to the Jonas Brothers' latest hits on my portable CD player I'd brought with me.
I didn't have to wait long, because 10 minutes later, Cindy got up. Knowing that it was impolite to neglect socializing when my friends were around, I put my music away. Then I said, “'Mornin', Cin! Did ya sleep well?”
She stretched & replied, “Yeah, I did, Libby. You?”
“Yep, I did,” I informed her as she climbed down the ladder to the floor.
“I wonder what the counselors have planned for today...,” Cindy added as she got herself dressed.
“Yeah, I wonder, too!” Natalie suddenly put in, sitting upright in her bed.
That made me jump! “Girl, when did you get up?? Don't scare me like that!!” I exclaimed.
“I woke up long before you 2 did, but I just laid there & waited until the 2 of you got up to speak,” she informed us, getting out of her bed & proceeding to get herself dressed, as well.
Then there was silence for a few minutes.
Cindy then broke it by saying, “So, Natalie, how does it feel to have an analytical genius for a brother??”
“Oh, it's awesome!! I know I'm adopted into his family, but I feel like I'm starting to get the hots for him!!” Natalie gushed, sitting on her bed with her hands cradling her chin.
I could tell Cindy was embarrassed because she immediately blushed deeply when Natalie said that.
She obviously noticed Cindy's reaction, because she asked, “You're cool with that, right?”
“I- uh, I guess so,” she replied uneasily.
I saw that talking about that was making her uncomfortable, so I changed the subject & put in, “What's your fave camping activity, Cindy?”
“I'd have to say the obstacle course races, especially when it's girls against boys!!” she told us, her facial expression brightening at the change of subject.
“Wow! Really? Me, too!!” Natalie told us.
“Woah, so you like challenges, do ya?” I asked her.
“Yep! Sometimes I feel so confident that I feel like I could conquer the world!!” she proudly exclaimed.
“Yeah, Natalie! I know the feeling!” Cindy agreed.
At that moment, a crash of thunder made itself known, along with a bright flash of lightening. As if on cue, Sarah, our camp counselor, arrived in our cabin just as it started to sprinkle. “By the looks of this weather, girls, I'm afraid our outdoor activities will have to be postponed until tomorrow,” she informed us, clearly a little bit down.
“Darn,” Cindy muttered aloud. I betted that she was hoping to challenge Jimmy to something she could beat him at that took place outdoors, but was unable to on account of the rain.
With that, Sarah left us & rushed back to her counselors' cabin, because, by then, it was pouring rain out there.
“Well, so much fo' that!” I sighed, my hopes of challenging Sheen to something & winning at it dashed for the moment.
“Did either of you girls bring something to do in stormy weather?” Cindy asked us.
“I didn't bring much except for several CD's, my Ipod, & my portable CD player, as well as my PDA,” I told them.
“Well, I brought a couple board games, a deck of cards, my Tamagochi's, some drawing books & pencils, my diary, & my Nintendo DS with a couple games like Petz Catz 2 & Imagine Fashion Designer,” Natalie put in, lugging out her travel bag & dumping its contents onto her bed.
“Now that ya mention it, girl, I DID bring my DS, & I also have the game Imagine Fashion Designer!” I exclaimed excitedly.
“All I brought was my diary & a couple of long books to read in my spare time,” Cindy said longingly. Then she added questioningly, “What board games did you bring, Natalie?”
“I brought Scrabble & Sorry,” she said.
“Oh,” Cindy said.
With that, we played a few rounds of War, Sorry, & Old Maid. Later, Natalie & I played on our DS's with the fashion game for about an hour or 2. Of course, we did break for lunch & dinner! Then we spent some time writing in our diaries. Before we knew it, it was going on 9:30, & Sarah came back in to tell us to get some shut eye. We got ready for bed & turned in for the night at around 10 pm.
'Kay! There's Chapter 14!! Hope ya enjoyed it immensely!!

Chapter 15: Rainy, Dreary Day
(Sheen's POV)
At the start of that same day, I was the first to wake up in the guys' cabin. I sat up, stretched, & looked around from my top bunk at my friends. It's a wonder they're still asleep, because we stayed up LATE last night talking, joking around, & eating snacks. So I played with my UltraLord action figures for about 15 minutes, then I was so bored, I couldn't take it anymore! “Oh, MAN!! How boring can this get??! I swear, I'm bored outta my MIND!!!!” I exclaimed rather loudly, not realizing how loud I was being.
Carl, who was sleeping on the bottom bunk on the bunk bed set across from the one I was on, groaned, rubbed his eyes, & put on his glasses. “Sheen, could you be quiet?? You're gonna give me a severe headache!!” he protested, “Besides, I was trying to sleep! I'm surprised that Jimmy hasn't woken up yet!”
But, I guess I didn't sleep in that late, because our camp counselor, Randy, came in & announced as it was starting to rain hard outside, “Guys, since the weather's acting up, we're gonna have to stay in our cabins today. Good luck on finding something to do!” Then he shut the door loudly behind him as he left & rushed back to his cabin.
Even with that noise, Jimmy STILL didn't wake up. Woah! He SURE is a heavy sleeper! I thought to myself.
I climbed down the ladder & walked to my clothes bag, searching for something that was sure fire to wake him up, because I didn't think I could take my boredom much longer! Then, I found it! My UltraLord Edition 12 Mega-Powered Ultra-Horn, as seen in UltraLord episode 177, “Attack of the Killer Crabs!” I walked back over to his side & was about to press the button on it when Carl cautioned, “Sheen, I wouldn't do that if I were you!!”
I just rolled my eyes & replied softly, “Oh, PLEASE!! What's the worst that could happen??” With that, I pressed my Ultra-Horn's button, & hard.
Jimmy woke up with a yelp & exclaimed, rubbing his ear, “Sheen???!! What have I told you about that??!!”
“Uh, always make sure this stays clean?” I guessed.
“No, to use a horn like that to wake someone up!! What's gotten into you these days???! Jeez!!” he demanded.
“I dunno,” I shrugged.
“Well, since I'm already up, I'd better activate Goddard for the day. Goddard, 'wake mode',” Jimmy told his dog, who woke up right when he said that.
Shortly after that, we got dressed & tried to think of something to do, since we very well weren't going outside that day.
“Okay, so now that we're up & ready, did anyone bring anything to do other than complicated technology to work on? No offense, Jimmy!” I told him, & ultimately, Carl, as well.
“None taken, Sheen! Actually, in addition to my technology, I brought some games & game consoles for you 2 to play. Carl, I brought about 5 or 6 llama-themed games, & Sheen, about the same number of UltraLord-themed games. That help you guys out any?” Jimmy told us.
“Yeah! Where are they??” I anxiously asked, my eyes darting every which where.
He handed us each a Nintendo DS & a game to go with it. Carl & I immediately started playing while he worked on his invention do-hickies. We, of course, took a break for lunch & supper! Then, before we knew it, it was getting really dark, & we got ourselves ready for bed. Then we turned out the lights & went to bed for the night.
Plz reply to this ASAP, and another chapter will be heading your way soon!

Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 16: Indoor Activities
(Carl's POV)
The following day was as rainy as the previous one, but our counselors finally found some things for us to do that were indoors. Turns out, they had an indoor play area not too far from our cabins. I just hoped I could get there & back without getting too wet.
I got up that morning & saw that Jimmy was already awake, for a change, with Goddard at his side, as usual. He was working on one of his gizmos he'd brought in his infinite-space-thingy. That's where he usually stores his stuff. The weird thing was that Sheen was still asleep, which was highly unusual for him. He was dreaming about UltraLord, no doubt. But, fortunately, he was a light sleeper, so when I decided that it was time, I shook him awake. “Carl,” he protested, “Can't ya let a guy sleep?? I was just getting to the good part of my dream where I was battling side by side with UltraLord!!!” I knew it!
“Sheen,” I said, “It's almost 9, & the counselor will be here any minute to see if we're up or not! Now, hurry & get dressed!!”
“What are you, my father?! I think not! But, if he's gonna be here soon, I'll go ahead & get dressed,” Sheen told me, climbing down the ladder & getting dressed for the day.
“Carl's right, Sheen!” Jimmy agreed, looking up from his work & looking through the window in the door, “And here he comes!”
As if on cue, Randy came inside & told us, “I don't know why we didn't think of this yesterday, but we have a recreation hall for days like this. It has a cafeteria, a gymnasium, & a lounging area with all a teen your age could want. We're to meet there in 5 minutes for a game of dodgeball, girls versus boys. Some new campers have arrived, & you guys & them combined make a more complete team. In fact, just come with me now. The girls are already there, so let's go!”
We dropped whatever we were doing & hurried with him through the rain & into the rec hall. Once inside, he showed us to the gym.
Sarah & the girls were already lined up & ready to play. Then I noticed something: the new campers weren't with us. So I asked, “Randy? Where are the new campers?”
“Guys, you can come out, now!” Randy hollered. The new campers came out of the back room & I noticed that they were all kids from our school: Nick, Butch, Oleander, Betty, Britney, & Nissa. We went from having 3 on each team to 6. Now we were ready!
The first person knocked out of the game was me, being the slowest kid there. I went over to the sidelines & watched the rest of the game. On the guys' side, Sheen & Oleander soon joined me. On the girls' side, Betty, Nissa, & Britney were knocked out of the game. Then it was just Cindy, Libby, & Natalie versus Jimmy, Nick, & Butch.
That was when it started to get intense! Nick & Butch were great at sports, but the only way Jimmy stayed in it was using a force field built into his watch to block the incoming balls. To me, that looked like plain cheating.
So, when a timeout was called, I called him over & asked, “Hey, Jim? Isn't using your watch's features kinda like cheating??”
“So?” he questioned, “There's no written rules for dodgeball, so, technically, I'm not breaking the rules, Carl. Goddard's helping, too.”
“Well, okay, just don't get hurt,” I informed him cautiously.
“I won't!” he reassured me as he went back into the game. From that point on, he actually started participating the normal way, even as Libby & Butch got knocked out, finally. All that was left were Cindy & Natalie against Nick & Jimmy. I had to admit, Jimmy did a pretty descent job of playing without his technology or Goddard. He was pretty quick on his feet, after all! Soon, Nick finally was knocked out by Cindy, so it was just Jimmy against Cindy & Natalie.
“You're goin' DOWN, Neutron!!!” Cindy challenged, & hurled a ball at him. But, he was yet again able to dodge it. He picked it up &, after several failed attempts, got Cindy knocked out. Grumbling under her breath, she stomped over to where the other girls were seated & sat down.
Ooo! I thought, This is gonna be tense! Brother versus sister!
By the look on Jimmy's face, I could tell he didn't want to hit a girl, especially his new sister. But, rules were rules, & they fought hard until he finally knocked her out.
After she was hit, she walked over to him with a smile & shook his hand, saying, “Good game, bro!”
With that, Randy ran to the center of the court where Jimmy was standing & held up his hand, declaring, “And the guys' team triumphs!! Congratulations!!” All the guys, including me, stood up & cheered him on. I think that was the first time in a long time that the kids in our class thought Jimmy deserved an applause for something.
Later, he gave my best friend an award medal, because he'd earned it that day!
After lunch in the cafeteria, we spent the rest of the day hanging out in the lounge playing video games, pool, air hockey, pinball, & fooseball.
At 7 that evening, we all retreated to our cabins, where we hung out until 9. Then we got ready for & went to bed for the night.
Kay, there it is!!! Hope you enjoyed my latest installment of Hope For the Hopeless!!

Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 17: The Field Trip
(Jimmy's POV)
The next morning, we were all woken up by our counselors. The time was 8am, so I wondered what they could want at that hour. I, as usual, was a heavy sleeper, so after Carl & Sheen had gotten up, they had Goddard wake me up by licking my face.
I laughed a bit & gently protested, holding up my hands, “Okay, okay, Goddard! Down, boy!” With that, I got up & proceeded to get dressed, & good thing, too, because right afterward, Randy showed up & announced, “Boy, have I got some exciting news for you! Today, we're going on a field trip to the nature center! The bus is waiting, so I suggest you get over there before they leave without you!”
After being told that, we hurried to the bus to get descent seats. The girls soon followed us & got seated, as well. Once the counselors were seated, the bus driver shut the door & started on the way to the nature center.
I think what surprised me the most was that Cindy actually chose to sit next to ME instead of Libby, Britney, or Natalie. Even more surprisingly, I actually LET her without knowing it, but I was secretly glad she did because I have a tremendous secret crush on her, & I believe she feels the same way about me, but is quick to deny it or argue about it. I believe it's mainly because she's embarrassed by it, & won't discuss it openly with just anyone. Only her best friend, Libby, knows, just like only Carl & Sheen know that I'm crushing on her. So, to avoid any fights or arguments, we chose not to talk to eachother the whole way there.
It took about 20 minutes to get there from camp, & I think Carl was the most excited about it because he knew that llamas most likely resided there. That's why he was singing about them the whole way there, to almost everyone's irritation & annoyance, that is, except for me, because I'm his best friend, & friends don't care about things like that, just about who they are on the inside.
As we got off the bus, Cindy asked me, “So, Neutron, you looking forward to this experience?”
“As a matter of fact, yes, I am, Vortex. I'm elated to see the vast variety of various species of fowl & mammalians,” I told her.
“Me, too. Although, probably not as excited as Carl is about seeing the llamas,” she pointed out as we made our way to the first enclosure, with hands-on experiences waiting for us.
“Yeah, you're right. He downright adores them!” I replied with a slight chuckle. I pointed at the llama enclosure & added, “Just look at him!”
“Uh-huh! He loves llamas, all right!” Cindy said matter-of-factly. Then she left me & joined Libby & Britney, talking animatedly about who knows what. Then Carl & Sheen joined me after taking a last look at the first of the animals.
“So, what do you think of this trip so far?” I wanted to know.
“All I wanna see is the lizard section!” Sheen informed me.
“I'm just LOVING it here, Jimmy!! Especially the llamas!!!” Carl gushed, “I don't think I wanna leave anytime soon!”
“I knew you'd love it here, Carl,” I commented kindly.
“Hey, where'd Sheen go?” he suddenly asked, looking around.
After looking around a bit, I saw him heading in the direction of the reptilian enclosure. “There he is! Looks like he found what he was looking for!” I noticed, pointing at where he was.
Carl looked where I was pointing & nodded, saying, “Yep, he did.”
For the remainder of our time there, our group was educated about eagles in a presentation they had daily & the rest of the day was spent looking at & petting the wildlife there after a brief picnic lunch that the counselors brought in a cooler for the occasion. We left around 4pm & got back to camp at 4:20pm.
The remainder of our time until 7 was spent on the playground just a short distance from our cabins. From there, we retreated to our cabins & hung out until 9. Then we got ready for bed & retired for the night, thankful of our fun trip to the nature center that day.
Enjoy!

You have a lot of very funny lines in here, especially by Sheen!
I think my favorites were:
When we did, I immediately jumped out of the rocket & exclaimed, “Yay! The beach!! Let's bury Carl in the sand!!!”
“Look! Giant green poles with leaves on the tops!!” I gasped when I got out with the rest of them, pointing.
“That's bamboo, Sheen,” Libby informed me, clearly a little annoyed.
“Whew! I'm here, hold your applause!” Sheen gasped, putting his apparently heavy bags on the concrete sidewalk next to him.
Can't wait to see what other camp activities come along.

Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 18: Giving In To Temptation...
(Cindy's POV)
The following day, I remembered how Jimmy'd found out about the love potion I took the other day, & hoped that it wouldn't lead to something drastic, something I'd regret for the rest of my life. But, unfortunately, something DID happen that day that I'd one day regret dreadfully.
It all started out as any old day at camp would. I got up & got dressed & did my morning routine. The time was around 9 in the morning. Some of the other girls were already up, Libby & Natalie being the only other 2 awake. While the 3 of us did our morning routines & got dressed, the others took the opportunity to sleep in a bit.
I had just started to write in my diary I'd brought when I heard a loud scream from the guys' cabin. I knew it had to be pretty bad in order for the scream to be THAT loud, so I hurried over there to see what was wrong. Libby & Natalie soon followed me.
When I got there a few seconds later, I anxiously knocked on the door. Right then, I felt a weird sensation go through me, as if I suddenly wanted to reveal my deepest, innermost feelings for Jimmy to him in person, to become boyfriend & girlfriend for the first time in our lives! I couldn't control it!
Sheen answered the door almost immediately & gasped, Cindy, thank goodness you're here!! Jimmy's acting really weird, almost as if he's goin' ga-ga for someone!!!
He barely had time to finish saying that because Jimmy shoved him aside right as he finished & gasped, Cindy, I've GOT to tell you something important!!
Me, too, Jimmy! I exclaimed. The weird thing was that I wasn't wigged out when I called him by his first name, but at the time, I didn't care. Right at that moment, we embraced eachother & declared, I LOVE YOU!!!
Sheen had apparently noticed us going mouth-to-mouth because he exclaimed out of disgust, Oh, NASTY!! GROSS!!!! We stopped what we were doing & looked over at him in the guys' cabin doorway. He was shielding his eyes as if to protect himself from what we were doing.
Then a familiar yet always welcome voice to me said, Okay, what we have here is- What in Graystar's name is goin' on, here??!!
That made us jump out of surprise & turn around to face Libby, who was standing in front of us with her arms crossed & her foot tapping impatiently.
Oh, hi, Libs!! I said nervously, putting my hands behind my back & clasping them, What brings you here?
I only came over here to inform y'all that the scavenger hunt is about to begin! An' all you 2 can THINK about is makin' out!! she told us impatiently, pointing in the direction of the counselors. The other girls & guys had joined us by then.
The scavenger hunt! I'd totally forgotten!!! Oh, yeah! The scavenger hunt!! Of course! Let's go before they cancel it! I urged everyone as we rushed over to them, holding hands with Jimmy the whole time.
Okay, now that y'all are here, let's hand out the scavenger hunt lists, Randy! Sarah told us, handing Randy a small stack of papers.
Everyone will be divided into groups of 2, Randy went on, handing us the lists, And the groups are: Jimmy & Cindy, Sheen & Libby, Carl & Betty, Natalie & Nissa, Britney & Oleander, & Nick & Butch. The items on the lists are scattered around our camp's perimeter, & I want everyone to be back at this spot at 3pm. Understand?
We all nodded understandingly as we split up into our groups.
A little while into our scavenger hunt, Jimmy asked me, Cindy, you nervous at all about this??
I just giggled a little bit & replied confidently, Of course not, Jimmy! As long as I'm with you, I'm just fine!
Good, I'm glad. Oh, I just remembered something! he said, pulling out his hypercube from his pocket & pulling something out of it that looked like his shrink ray, but was slightly smaller, had fewer buttons, was red in color, & had a radar screen on it.
Uh, what is that? I asked him.
It's my Item-Finder 3000. Just enter in whatever item you're looking for & the screen will display its coordinates within a 10-mile radius, Jimmy explained confidently.
Perfect! We can use that to finish our portion of the scavenger hunt first! I suggested excitedly.
Great idea, Cindy! he complimented me, & used the gadget to find the items on our list, which were a helium balloon, a teddy bear, a wrapped candy cane, a bucket of pine cones, & a blue snail that was still alive. He stuck what we found in his hypercube with the gadget & casually walked along the forest path with me in silence for a few moments.
Then I broke the silence by saying, What should we do now, Jimmy? Oh, wait! Don't answer that, because right over there is a cute little romantic enclosure just for us! What do ya say?
I'll say that it's just right for us! Let's go! he told me, walking with me into that private enclosure. It had tall grass that grew all the way up to our shoulders, trees surrounding it, & a tiny stream trickling nearby.
We felt so relaxed in our little neck of the woods that we fell asleep lying next to eachother. I didn't know it at the time, but the 2 of us ended up doing something that we'd regret for the rest of our lives.
It was only several hours later that a voice calling our names woke me up. It sounded far off, but it was getting closer by the second. I knew after a few moments of listening that it was Libby looking for us! So I shook Jimmy awake & urged, Jimmy, do you hear that? Libby's looking for us, & she's getting closer by the second!
He immediately sat up & said, Yeah, I hear her, too, Cindy! I think we'd better get ourselves dressed before she catches us like this!!
I nodded my agreement as we both scrambled to throw our clothes on before Libby saw us like that, which we were barely able to do before she found us.
We were just putting our shoes on when she walked up to us & demanded, What, may I ask, is goin' ON, here??! It's goin' on 5 o' clock, & we agreed to meet back at 3pm!! Everyone's lookin' fo' y'all!! Now, follow me!!
We hastily followed her out of the enclosure & back to camp. While we were walking, she added questioningly, By the way, what exactly were you 2 doin' in there???
I just blushed deeply & stammered, laughing nervously, N-Nothing, Libs! Nothing a-at a-all!! Jimmy nodded his agreement while tugging nervously on his shirt collar & blushing equally as deeply as I was.
Uh-huh, sure, she said, clearly unconvinced.
What were the consequences of what he & I had just done?!
If you've read one of my other fics, called Unforgettable Summer, I think you'll notice a similarity between this chapter of this fic and another chapter from the other one. That's because, at one point, I had Unforgettable Summer saved on my laptop on the admin account, which required a password to access. But I had stupidly forgotten that password and ended up doing this fic and a few others on the guest account. I wanted a fic similar to the one on the account I couldn't access at the time, so I made this one, but this chapter is the only similarity between this fic and Unforgettable Summer. But, since then, I've fixed the password problem and now I can access the admin account on it once again.

Hope For the Hopeless
Chapter 19: Confirmed Suspicions
(Libby's POV)
That afternoon, I wasn't sure what was making Jimmy & Cindy act so strangely, but I had a feeling it had to do with whatever they were doing in that little enclosure I found them in. I just hoped they didn't do anything they'd regret one day! However, I was determined to find out what exactly they had to hide from me. Cindy won't ever keep ANYTHING from me!! I'd make sure of that!
Everyone was finally together at 5 something in the evening, & Sarah & Randy announced the statistics of the scavenger hunt. In a tie for 5th place with one item found are Nick's & Oleander's groups; 4th place goes to Natalie's group for 2 items found; 3rd place goes to Carl's group for 3 items found; 2nd place goes to Sheen's group for 4 items found; & 1st place goes to Jimmy's group with all 5 items found! Congratulations!! Randy announced, motioning them up onto the platform to accept their awards, which they did.
But there was an odd way that they presented themselves. Both of them were blushing slightly & forcing themselves to smile as their picture was taken. They were acting very guilty of doing something, but what? I was determined to find out.
So, after the girls & guys had split up in their cabins & about a half hour had passed, I walked up to Cindy, who was writing in her diary while sitting on her bed, & quietly ordered, Cindy, can I have a word with ya, privately??
She nodded, dropped what she was doing on her bed, & followed me into the bathroom a short distance away in the cabin. After shutting the door behind us, I demanded, Okay, Cindy! Cards on the table RIGHT now! I want the truth about what you & Neutron were up to in that little enclosure I found y'all in, & I want it straight!!
Okay, Libs. Here goes! You see, he & I had just finished finding the scavenger hunt items when, out of the blue, I asked him if he wanted to go into that little enclosure, although I have NO earthly idea WHY. Anyhoo, he said sure, & we went in. We were just relaxing in there when we fell asleep. When we woke up several hours later, we found ourselves without clothing on, & as to exactly HOW that happened, I don't know, but, in a strange way, I kinda liked it. We ended up laying on top of eachother; he was on the bottom, & we were facing eachother. That's when I heard you calling for us, & I shook him awake. We realized that it was you calling us, & we scrambled to dress ourselves before you could catch us like that. That explain it, girl?? Cindy informed me, looking at her shoes the entire time, obviously embarrassed.
I heard it all with wide eyes & mouth slightly agape. When I finally spoke, I said, Cin, that explains everything! I then reached into my cosmetic bag & handed her something, adding, Here, Cindy. This should help, & let me know how it turns out!
She accepted it & asked, Libs, why do ya carry pregnancy tests with you?!
My mom told me I should always carry them, just in case anything should happen, I explained, Now go into one of the stalls & find out whether you are or not. I only want the best fo' ya, girl!
Okay, she agreed, & went into one of the stalls.
I waited.
A few minutes later, she came out with a pale complexion on her face & faintly whispered, Positive.
Now, Cindy, I informed her, Ya need to see a doctor to be completely sure!
Uhn-uh!! No WAY, Libby!! I don't need a doctor; I need a SCIENTIST!!! Cindy snapped, almost hyperventilating.
I put my hands on her shoulders & said firmly, Girl, ya don't want the other girls to find out, do ya?? So, keep it on the down low while we head out of the cabin to find Neutron, okay?
She nodded her agreement as she followed me out of the cabin, trying not to act suspicious, & to the door of the guys' cabin. I knocked on the door & waited for a response.
Jimmy answered it & asked, Can I help you girls with anything?
Cindy explained her current dilemma to him. He listened with a thoughtful look on his face, then, when she was finished, went back inside the cabin after telling us, Wait right here.
We did just that, &, 20 minutes later, he came back with an odd looking invention. Then he told us, Let's head behind the cabin so no one will find out, okay?
We both nodded in agreement as we followed him behind the guys' cabin. Then Cindy asked, Okay, Neutron, what is this thing & how does it work?
I call it the Micro-Detector 5000. It scans any part of your body & informs you if anything has changed, Jimmy explained, & scanned Cindy's abdomen with the new invention. Right afterward, he informed us, This tells me that you, Cindy, are, indeed, pregnant. Then his eyes lit up as he exclaimed, I'm gonna be a dad! I'M GONNA BE A-
Sshh, Neutron!!! Do ya want the entire CAMP to hear??! I hissed in his ear, my hand clamped over his mouth. He shook his head no violently.
Good, I said, letting him go. Then I added cautiously, You promise not to tell anyone about this until it's the proper time??
You have my word, Libby! Not one speck of information shall leave my mouth about this!! he promised.
With a final handshake, we went our separate ways for the night & retreated to our cabins, confident that Cindy & Jimmy's secret would be well-kept.
There it is! Hope ya enjoyed it!!
