How Did You Do It? I've Been Trying To Make Something like it...I just can't get rid of the sound of the clips.

I know that a lot of Katy Perry's music is what one might call "trashy", but E.T. is just so damn catchy, I couldn't help but make a MV out of it. For some reason the metaphor of lover-as-alien-abductor really fascinates me....you could have a field day analyzing this song in a gender studies class. But you don't want to hear my scholarly musings on the nature of intrusive masculinity, you want to see a Halloween-themed JN music video!

I had a lot of fun making this, but now that I go back and watch it, I get the sense that I've just added one more piece of evidence to the overwhelming case for my inability to portray a healthy relationship. In fact, my Dad only saw 30 seconds of this before remarking "you're really screwed up, you know that?". I take that as a sign of overall success

Anyway, here you go. Enjoy the effects bonanza. This is exactly the sort of perfectionist bullcrap that keeps me from finishing anything in life in a reasonable time frame

@Katie: Isn't this version of the song way better than the version with Kanye West? He takes the song out of metaphor territory and drives it straight into "Imma probe you" land. I know the original isn't exactly subtle, but the Kanye West version is the lyrical equivalent of being hit over the head with a shovel. FAIL.

And yet they never play it on the radio... **shakes head** I actually held off on making this video for months because I had only heard the Kanye West version, and frankly it pissed me off. Fortunately, I found the Katy Perry only version on youtube, and knew immediately I had to use it for an mv. JN is a treasure trove of mad science/alien abduction clips.

And yes, Mara, you have a problem with portraying a healthy relationship, but do they really make for great story-telling? Hell no! So a little dysfunction is necessary Nicely done video, as always.
