Yeah, I don't get it either. In the first movie, Cindy says, "I was the smartest kid in school until you came around."
But then in Birth of a Salesman Sheen says, "Sorry Jimmy, I always wanted to buy you ever since I was 5 years old." and then in One of Us, when Carl says, "Sheen's acting weird!" Jimmy responds with, "Yeah, Carl, where have you been for the last ten years?"
How would Jimmy know them that long if he apparently moved?
Unless, Retroville being a city and all, the population is great enough to need more than one elementary school? And that might be why they attend Lindbergh Elementary and not Retroville Elementary, since towns usually only give names to schools other than the town name if they're either regional or there are more than one of that level of education. Jimmy could have only lived across town, and he knew Sheen and Carl from somewhere else, preschool or day care or church or whatever, and then for some reason he moved into their neighborhood and that was in a different school district so he went to Lindbergh and stole Cindy's place as the smarted kid in school.
/random long-winded explanation/
It makes sense to me. That's what I always assumed. I know it's not a big deal and those quotes are probably just for comedic effect/continuity errors, but I'm one of those people who picks out little inconsistencies and makes up logical explanations for them. Like this question I had a couple months ago on the thread about Jn confusing questions or whatever it was called, where I speculated on why Oleander was named that.
I'm weird about things like this, I know.
