*Ratty leaps up onto the False Chest of Calamitous, and stares pointedly, hissing again*

What...the other Chest? What about it girl? Are they...are the two Chests connected somehow?

*Ratty grips the lid tighter*

Hm....maybe we shouldn't have discarded the other chest so easily....

*bends down to talk to Ratty, feeling slightly ridulous* Ok, um Ratty....if the chest is that important, do you think you could...um, get off so I can pick it up? :unsure:

*Ratty pauses for a moment, then leaps off and backs Spike into a corner opposite from the Chest, hissing and squeaking*

Umm...I think you better pick up the Chest while you can, Writer Woman, before Ratty comes back for it. *nervous laugh*

*quickly picks up chest, putting it in a small, anti-engergy ball (kinda like a hampster ball) and slips it into inside pocket of trenchcoat*

OK, Rat Lady, I know I'm not the perfect, shining knight of the team, but your girl doesn't have to treat me like the enemy here... I'm not DOING anything! *frowns bewilderedly*

I...have no idea what that was about. She really doesn't want you near the Chest, Spike, but for what reason I don't know.

*picks up Ratty and holds her up next to Spike*

*Ratty licks Spikes fingers, perfectly friendly*

Yeah...it isn't you. At least, when the Chest is out of sight it isn't you.

Maybe we should take another look at the inscriptions from the False Chest. I have a feeling there is more to the original riddle then we discovered the first time reading it. Here were the three parts from different sides of the Chest:

Unlock your destiny, Evil apprentice. Your fate is an extension of mine, though you will see it through to completion. If you be not of Evil heart, then let this Chest be a curse upon you, you...(trails off here)

When the day arrives that I am no longer with you, this Chest will begin its journey. Across the sea and beneath the Earth, it must travel past the Rock of Man and through the Cave of the Crystal Roof. Only there can its Evil truly be reflected, and the World shall fall under the Spell. Only there will you take on your Destiny.

If you wish to succeed, do not lose the key, for it unlocks more than this Evil.

It seems to me that if you aren't evil, if you open the chest, you'll be forever cursed, or stuck dead, or something.... :unsure:

But my lady Cantooplia was very persistent on her prediction...*thinks* Maybe....maybe.....nah, it couldn't be....

*sighs and raises voice* All right, off to my the crystal cave where my grandfather is buried. It's...going to be a bit of a trip. *grins* I don't even know the exact location; I always knew he wasn't popular, even when I didn't know his true past. I heard that some of his friends buried his body somewhere far away in secret so that they could give him the respect they felt was due to him. All I have...is this map...

*reaches into her pocket, pulls out a worn, folded piece of paper, and hands it to Writer Woman*

*studies map for a moment* Hm....I can make out most of it...but it seems to me that the cave is dangerously close to....*gulps* The Junkyard.

Nothing is ever easy, huh? And here I was hoping I'd be able to...well...get this over with quickly... *cringes slightly*

*mutters* Let's just gather up everything we need and go quickly. We needn't consult the queen; we don't have much time. Just message Red Storm and they can keep tabs on us as we go. Who's getting down and dirty with this and who's staying behind to research anything we may need?

Writer Woman, Rat Lady, I know I need you two with me for sure. Something tells me, even if I'm the one to open the Chest, I'm going to need some of my longtime companions there too...

Ok then! *rubs hands together eagerly* Let's get started!

Let's see...the Chests are safe, we know where we're going....

I'm gonna go contact Red Storm and get those guards and Flankers ready...then we should pack for a journey.

I suggest that newer NKs stay behind, especially those not familar with the terrain near the Junkyard, and give us information from the library when we need it. It'll be an important job.
