Rat Lady, checking in.

(I do believe Lady Gwendolyn graced us with a picture back in the original topic. Ratty was not very happy about the snake...)

Last time on The Adventures of the Neutron Knights:

Rat Lady, Spike, and myself (Writer Woman) executed a recon mission to gain more intelligence on the overlord's plans for conquest. We succeeded in retrieving some important scrolls, finding the location of the legendary Kingdom Key, and some very useful computer files. Queen Mara then succeeded in making copies of the powerful key using old pictures of the overlord.

The Kingdom Key is said to open a mighty chest called the Chest of Calamitous, that will unleash unspeakable evil onto the world.

*looks through scrolls* Hm...these are tunnel charts. It seems like Eustace has been executing some major tunneling projects, but all of them lead to unpenetrable bedrock. I think he's trying to locate the Chest of Calamitous, unsuccessfully at the moment.

I just KNOW that those strange diamond symbols on top of the Kingdom Key must mean something. I swear, I've seen that arrangement before in my studies. Maybe the symbology could help in deciphering just what horrible evil lies within the Chest of Calamitous.

Writer Woman, I will be back in a while. I need to go through my files.

Roger that, Rat Lady

Ok, I've been looking through the other scrolls, and I found this really old one that probably is the original recording of the legend:

It is said that an ancient foe of the great inventor, after countless attempts to conquer the world, succeeded in creating the almost perfect evil force. The only flaw was that its creator could not be the one to unleash its power. Devistated, Calamitous buried the chest in which the evil was locked, leaving clues for the next generation of evil to find, and perhaps finally bring the world to evil.

Hm....but how did Eustace's family get the key?....I think the library has records on the Strych family line. I must investigate.

Now THAT is interesting, Writer Woman.

You would think that Calamitous would have passed the key onto his daughter, yet it instead rests with the Strych family. Perhaps the animosity between Calamitous and Beautiful Gorgeous was so great that there was no overcoming it, and he went elsewhere to find an heir?

Oh, and I am finding some interesting things in my collection of notes. Nothing very important yet, but I think (or hope, rather) that I am on the right track.

:grr: WHERE have I seen those symbols before?

Ah yes, the heir of Calamitous. Lady Gorgeous did become the heir of the Calamitous fortune. I have her memoir around her somewhere...Ah, here we are. *takes out book, and blows off the dust*

*Looking through it* Yes, she did become the heir, but she doesn't mention a k...what a minute! Listen to this:

Today I went through daddy dearest's old papers looking for his will, and came across a old copy of a letter addressed to mother describing his latest scheme. It was dated a few years old, and as I read it I realized that dad actually did something right that time. I remembered that key being around his neck at the funeral. So, as soon as dark fell, I snuck out to the morge, and stole the key from his body. Now, if only I could find the box.

So there's the key, now how did it get to the Strych family?

*looks through family tree*

Aha! I've located Strych's ancestor and...and....OMG! *points at page* That's how! Eustace's grandfather's wife is....Lady Gorgeous!

Whoa!

Can we say "gold digger" anyone?

So Beautiful Gorgeous got herself involved in the Strych family fortune, eh?

Well, that's certainly interest - WAIT!

Hold on, I'll be right back! I think I remember where I've seen those symbols before!!!

YES! That's it!

The same three diamond shapes reside on the apex of Professor Calamitous's mausoleum!

I have a photograph right here. *points triumphantly* I took that photo to give myself some decent proof that we had finally rid ourselves of Calamitous. However, it now seems that he did not go quietly.

Lady Gorgeous must have been so intent on getting that key off of his body, that she failed to pay attention to where the body was buried, much less what decorations lay around it!

Let me see those tunnel charts. *scans charts*

Yes, yes...ah hah! The Overlord has not yet dug near the mausoleum! It DOES seem that he is getting closer to it with every attempt. How he knows where the right location to dig is, I do not know, but I firmly believe that this mausoleum MUST hold either a clue to the burial place of the Chest, or maybe even the burial place itself!

We must inform the others. This could be a major break for us!

Aha! Good work, Rat Lady! We might be able to recover the chest ourselves, and keep it safe from evil.

Hm, maybe the computer files have something on the clues left by Calamitous....

The snake who is VEGAN. --pets Stanley--

Well, I tried to explain that to Ratty, but she didn't quite understand. She mostly just sees the teeth and the scales. ^_^

Awesome. Yay for Eustace-scaring teeth!

Can I pet Stanley? :D I adore snakes, but since I usually smell of rodent, they tend to like biting me. However, since Stanley is vegan, he should not go bonkers and mistake my hand for dinner!

You may indeed pet Stanley.

You should be warned, however, that he does like to constrict around things. But not to the point of harming. 8D

*muffled voice* Er...Gwen? Can you please get Stanley off my face?
