Hi there!

Okay, time to try another quiz.
-Like many of the others, this is adapted from an old Dungeons and Dragons campaign I once ran.

Let's say Jimmy grew up to go into Advertising. Wanting the be the Best, he researched all the best advertising slogans ever. Like he researched all the best movies for his movie.
-But something went HORRIBLY WRONG.
-Instead of creating the world's best commercial, Jimmy accidentally messed up all the world's old best commercials.

Your job is to see if you can identify the commercials below. Most are television commercials. Some are old, some are new, but most are very famous.
-A few problems. Some commercials are for adults; banks, insurance, credit cards, carpeting. So you might not know those.
-Also, as some of you know, I'm from Chicago. So some commercials might only be known IN Chicago, I don't know.

Still, there's also restaurants, candy, and cereal.
-So hopefully it won't be too bad.

1. Jimmy says, love that crazy Cindy!

2. A day without Jimmy is like a day without sunshine.

3. Take a good look at an old friend, Jimmy!

4. Neutrons! They’re Gggrrreat!

5. How do you spell relief? J I M M Y

6. Yo quiero Jimmy Neutron!

7. I’m Jimmy Neutron, and I'm not just the President,
I'm also a member.

8. There's no wrong way to eat a Jimmy.

9. When you've got Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy on the label label label,
you will like it, like it, like it, on your table, table, table.

10. Like a good neighbor, Jimmy is there.

11. Please don’t squeeze the Neutron!

12. You got questions, Jimmy’s got answers.

13. Neutron is good food.

14. Jimmy Neutron, he keeps going and going and going …

15. 588-2300 Neutron!

16. Got Jimmy?

17. A Neutron is a terrible thing to waste.

18. Behold the Power of Jimmy.

19. The best part of waking up is Neutron in your cup.

20. Silly Jimmy, Neutrons are for kids!

21. There’s a smile in every Jimmy Bar.

22. Its hard to mend a broken heart with bobby pins and glue,
its hard to sell ice to people who also sell ice!
Its hard to play pin the tail on the Donkey when the Donkey’s running around kicking you,
but its easy to play with Goddard.

23. For low rates and great rewards switch to the Neutron.
What’s in your wallet?

24. You deserve a break today.

25. Shoebot. $20. Shrink Ray. $50. Mechanical Canine. $100. Saving your parents from the Yolkians, Priceless. There are some things money can’t buy. For everything else, there’s Jimmy Neutron.

And that's it!
-As always, answers to come!

Hi everybody!
-As always, thanks for playing. I hope you had fun!

You guys and ladies did very well.
-But is that a good thing?
-As Mara said, it could be brainwashing! :o

Before I get into it, here's a story. I used to love an old movie called LOOKER. I can hardly remember who was in it. But one thing the bad guys were doing was putting hypnotic commands into commercials so people would buy more.
-And the head of the corporations says, if I recall correctly "Studies now show that the average American now spends one and half YEARS of his life, just watching television commercials! That's 50 minutes every single day of his life. Now that's power."
-Mind you, I don't know if that's real. Or if the figures have gone up or down since that movie came out way before DVD, TIVO, and cable.

ANYWAY... Let's take a look here:

Andrea: Thanks for playing! I always love how you visit my games. ^_^
-You were right on 16, 20, and 25.
-But not on 23. It's not Geico.
-And just to pick a point, for 20 they usually say "Silly RABBIT, Trix is for kids." Though bunnies are cuter.

ANOTHER STORY: I remember once General Mills ran a great promotion. They allowed kids to vote on whether the Rabbit, after all these years, SHOULD be allowed to have some Trix!
-I don't know what the numbers were, but THE RABBIT WON!
-They had a special commercial for it. The Rabbit got his own bowl of Trix, and ate some, and YOWZA! The rest was History.
-I thought it neat.

Anyway ... again ...

Hiya Beks! Always good to see your cute face. :P
-You did very well.
-Correct on 4, 6, 10, 14, 16, 19, 20, 23, and 25! Wow!

Hey Altered Egos! Do pardon me, I wish no disrespect, but I've gone and forgotten the name you prefer! I'm so ashamed.
-So I had to call you Altered Egos. I'm sorry!
-You did excellent as well.
-Correct on 4, 8, 10, 14, 16, 19, 20, 23, and 25. Snazzy!
-Oh, and thanks for the compliment. Glad you liked it!
-Sadly you weren't correct on Number 5. I'm not sure what Advil's slogan is. (See below for a hint.) Justine thought it was Advil too!
-On 17 you did get the slogan right, but we want to know the product or service. So half a star on that one. ^_^
-And 21 wasn't quite the answer I was looking for. (More on that down below too!)

Hi Karin! Thanks for visting. I may be mistaken, but I think this is the first one of my quizes you've ever stopped at.
-I hope to do some more in the future, and I hope you keep posting.
-We've really got to get your Posts up there! Just look at the likes of Gwen, Krista, and Mara. (And Beks, Rachel, and Justine!)
-Anyway, you were right on your answers, 14 and 25. Way to go!
-I'd say you really need to see more commercials, but that's kind of a silly thing to say, isn't it?

Krista! So great of you to stop by. I see you all over the place but we hardly ever talk.
-You did exceedingly well.
-Correct on 4, 6, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, and 25!
-First, the sad news. Like Altered Egos, 24 isn't quite Kit-Kat. (Though they are yummy.)
-(Not as yummy as peanut butter cups though. Just saying!)
-And I was just stunned you were correct on 588-2300, EMPIRE! Yes, that was a carpeting company. Now they do blinds, siding I think, and flooring. And they've had that jingle for - I don't know - 40 years. And I think the same spokesman too! I thought that was a Chicago phenomenom. (But maybe you're from Chicago, I never looked.)
-Great job!

Hey Gwen! Great to see you.
-Yes, "Oh That Jimmy!" ^_^
JIMMY: Guys! Something went HORRIBLY WRONG!
SHEEN: Gee, do ya think?
-Anyway ... What a great job! You're a credit to American Capitalists everywhere. But lordy, be careful when you get old enough to get a credit card! :o
-You were correct on 4, 6, 8, 10, 14, 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, and 25!
-Like Krista said, I think that's the best score!
-As discussed in that other Topic, I'd send you a peanut butter cup for a prize but it would probably melt. Besides, I'm sad to say, I had one for you ... but I ate it.
-Only two wrong. 5 isn't Advil. And 24 isn't Kit-Kat.
-There's no wrong way to eat a Jimmy?
-GWEN! You're going to get me in trouble. YET AGAIN!

Justine! Correct on 4, 10, 15, 16, and 20!
-Very good!
-Like Krista up above, I didn't think anyone would know Empire Carpets. Maybe they've gone National. Or maybe they always were, and I just never knew that.

Heya Tall, Blond and Craazy! :P (ie Rachel)
-Great job!
-Right on 4, 8. 10, 14, 16, 19, 20, 23, and 24. Cool!
-Sadly, there's that Kit-Kat again! For number 24.
-And, alas, 25 isn't Visa. But close.

Mara! I'm snazzified you stopped by. You know I always flip out when you visit my Topics.
-Let's see, you were correct on 4, 8, 10, 14, 16, 19, 20, 23, and 25!
-And what's more, I will give you number 17, because you're close enough and on the right track. "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste" is the slogan for the United Negro College Fund.
-STORY: Here is what Vice President Dan Quayle said to the United Negro College Fund. "What a waste it is to lose one's mind! Or to not have a mind!"

Well, this post got pretty long, so some hints in a bit.

Hi again everybody!
-Here's what remains of the Quiz. With a hint or two too!

1. Jimmy says, love that crazy Cindy!
This is a candy.

2. A day without Jimmy is like a day without sunshine.
This is a drink. Sunshine is very important.

3. Take a good look at an old friend, Jimmy!
This is a store. It may be too Chicagoland, I'm not sure.

5. How do you spell relief? J I M M Y
This is not for a headache, but for a tummy ache!

7. I’m Jimmy Neutron, and I'm not just the President,
I'm also a member.
This is for a service. Truth to tell, I don't even know if they're around anymore. Rogaine might have made them obsolete.

11. Please don’t squeeze the Neutron!
A product, closely associated with Mr. Whipple.

12. You got questions, Jimmy’s got answers.
A store.

13. Neutron is good food.
A food, obviously. One of their other slogans was "Mmm mmm good!"

18. Behold the Power of Jimmy.
Another food.

22. Its hard to mend a broken heart with bobby pins and glue,
its hard to sell ice to people who also sell ice!
Its hard to play pin the tail on the Donkey when the Donkey’s running around kicking you, but its easy to play with Goddard.
-I probaly shouldn't included this because it's VERY Illinois only, and it ran only for a short time. But I thought it halarious.
-A service, I guess you'd call it.

24. You deserve a break today.
-Kit-kat is "Gimme a break!" However this restaurant long ago sang "You deserve a break today!"

And that's it!
-Answers, or maybe a few more hints, to come soon.

Hi everyone!

Well it's just about time to wrap this quiz up.
-A few answers, and a few hints.

First, Rachel!
-You were correct on two guesses.

Number 5: ROLAIDS IS how you spell relief.
(Or it was once upon a time. They may not do it anymore.)

Number 13: Campbell's was good food. Now it's mmm, mmm good.
-I do believe the FDA made them change their slogan, because they thought not ALL soup is good food. High sodium and such.
-That pesky FDA!

* * * *

Now some answers:

2. A day without Jimmy is like a day without sunshine.
-This is Florida Orange Juice.
-"A day without Florida Orange Juice is like a day without sunshine."

3. Take a good look at an old friend, Jimmy!
-This is a supermarket chain, Jewel.
-"Take a good look at an old friend, Jewel!"
-Like I said at the start, it may be too Chicago-ish. Maybe they don't have Jewel supermarkets where you are!

7. I’m Jimmy Neutron, and I'm not just the President,
I'm also a member.
-This is the Hair Club For Men!
-Back before Rogaine, this is where bald men went to get their hair back. And the spokesman was not just the President, he was also a member.

11. Please don’t squeeze the Neutron!
A product, closely associated with Mr. Whipple.
-Awk! I thought this was super famous.
-Charmin Toilet Paper.
-It is pretty old though. Women would come to Mr. Whipple's supermarket and squeeze the Charmin, and Mr. Whipple would come up and say "Please don't squeeze the Charmin!"
-I understand Mr. Whipple died recently. -_- Charmin ran an old montage of Mr. Whipple ads in his memory.

12. You got questions, Jimmy’s got answers.
-That's Radio Shack!

18. Behold the Power of Jimmy.
-That's Cheese! "Behold the power of cheese!"

-This was an ad for the Illinois Little Lottery.
-Like I said, probably TOO local, but it made me laugh.

* * * *

So that leaves us with two left. I'm not giving out the answers to those yet, because I'm hoping someone may yet get them.

1. Jimmy says, love that crazy Cindy!
-This is a candy.
-Here's the full song:
-"Once upon a time there was an engineer,
Choo-choo Charlie was his name we hear!
He had an engine and he sure had fun,
He used Jimmy Neutrons to make his engine run!
Jimmy says, "Love that crazy Cindy!"
Jimmy says, "Sure does ring a bell!"
Jimmy says, "Love that crazy Cindy!
"Don't know no other candy that I love so well!"

24. You deserve a break today.
-Kit-kat is "Gimme a break!" However this restaurant long ago sang "You deserve a break today!"
-Another hint. This is not Outback Steakhouse, but it IS the BIGGEST RESTAURANT CHAIN ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH!!!

Cya!
