I only like slash if it's done right.

Meaning, if I can see it happening.

Which is why I usually only like one slash pairing in any fandom, if I like slash in that fandom at all.

Like, I can totally see Jimmy/Sheen happening. Which is why I love it so much. But I still enjoy Nick slash because I can usually see that happening also.

I don't know why, but ever since I got back into JN, I haven't been able to see Nick as heterosexual. It may be because he's voiced by a woman and you can tell sometimes. Because if you listen closely, you really can tell that it's a woman's voice.

Jimmy, you can only tell in the movie. Because he sounds young. But in the show I think Debbie Derryberry did a wonderful job of making her voice masculine and sounding like an actual guy. Candy Milo, on the other hand...she did not do as well a job as Debbie in making her voice more guy-ish.

In my opinion, anyway.

Well, I've found out that sometimes if I start out not liking slash, a good, in character fanfiction can change my mind. I don't like slash for the sake of slash. There has to be thought there, some kind of background as to why the author/shipper believes it's possible.

Exactly what I think. The author has to make it believable.

I mean, you can write whatever you want. But if you want people to believe it can happen, you have to do it right.

You'd be surprised by that...I'm having an annoying time with slash fiction for a different fandom...a few authors are great, the rest don't seem to know how to keep the characters in character, and as I ship that slash pairing, it bugs me. (Irony is when you're typing something about a guide to writing good fanfiction because of a really bad author when, right in the middle of it, you get a review from said bad author telling you how good your story is....that happened to me a few nights ago.)

The thing is, JN takes a lot of speculation. Most of the characters are too young to have serious relationships (straight or otherwise), so not only do you have to figure out how to get them with a member of the same sex believably, you usually have to age them realistically. I have major respect for good slash authors for this fandom. They have their work cut out for them, but that doesn't mean the pairing's impossible.

Right. All slash fics in JN pretty much need them to be like, 15+. So they gotta keep the characters in character but still realistically older, and have their relationship validated so that readers believe it. That sounds like a lot of work.

Maybe when I have more experience with writing and fanfiction and such I can attempt some slash.

BTW...you mentioned getting a review. Do you have an account on fanfiction?

Completely agree.

Yeah, I'm on fanfiction.net. Author name as Perhapsormaybe. It used to be CindyNeutron, but I changed it. I'll be honest, my JN stories on there aren't that great. I'd love to delete them, but I feel bad deleting any story that got even one favorite.

Nick is, at the very least, metrosexual. How many straight guys do you know who obsess that much over their looks? I know ...1. And we were all pretty sure he was in the closet and bi (...had a freakout if you touched his hair without asking. Plus he admitted to a man crush on Johnny Dep...)

That does not bode well for one of my RL friends. Seriously, everytime the guy passed something that even reflected his face, he'd check his hair and touch it.
