mmm do you like "Calaveras y Diablitos" it's actually a song by "Los Fabulosos Cádilacs" but I thought it would be a cool name for a pirate ship...

RESULTS:

I eventually decided to use Gwen's suggestion for the name the Avenger. From when I first read it I liked it and as I thought about it, I liked it more and more, and as it is Gwen, the pirate's, home ship, I thought it would be cool that Gwen would name the ship. ^_^ Thanks for the great names guys. The next chapter will be out in a few minutes (that I am going to be typing it up)

“Hey, Cap’n” a dark-haired girl said holding the mainmast with her right hand.
“Hey-llo, Salai-girl,” the Captain of the Avenger greeted the girl with one of her on-board nicknames.
“Sometimes I think ye’ve forgotten my real name,” she said.
“Just as ye’ve forgotten yer own surname, eh? Gwen?”
The girl, Gwen, smiled. “I really wish I could remember me last name sometimes,” she said with a little hint of regret in her voice.
“Ah, when ye get married that won’t matter, Salai,” the Captain put a hand on her shoulder.
“Who says I’m going to get married?” Gwen said defensively, planting her hands on her hips. “I am not going to get married. I am going to be captain of my OWN ship. What I’m worried about is that I’ll just be Captain Gwen…blank. I want to have a last name for that. It sounds more, idunno, important.”
“Well, ye’ll have no problem achieving that dream, Salai, ye’ll get a crew in no time. And as for a ship, the Pacific Ocean is a big place full of fit ships for pirates. Yer only problem would be that ye…are a…lady,” the Captain explained.
“Cap’n Shay!” Gwen said, rolling her brown eyes.
“Just sayin’,” Captain Shay said with a chuckle. “Women are supposed to be bad luck aboard ships. That’s why the men didn’t want me to take ye on the Avenger at all.”
“Ugh, stupid superstitions.” Gwen muttered. “All we’ve had is good luck since I became a crew member onboard the Avenger.” Gwen said proudly, then after a moment she turned to Captain Shay and said, unsurely, “…right?”
“Well…” Shay began. “actually…” he stretched the word and rubbed the back of his neck reluctantly.
“What?” Gwen asked, nervousness could be detected in her attempt to be nonchalant.
“It was one time only. A while ago…Well, it has no purpose to ye. Meaningless, really. F-forget it.” Shay said, stuttering a little.
“No, say it, Shay,” Gwen said.
“Ah, C’mon, lass. Ye won’t like what ye hear.” Shay insisted.
“I don’t care, tell me!” Gwen shouted, growing angry.
“I’m not going to tell ye, lass.” Captain Shay said.
“Whyever not?” Gwen questioned.
“Ask one of yer crewmates to tell ye. For ye’re not gonna hear that tale from me.” Captain Shay walked away, leaving Gwen to lean on the mainmast, wondering what could have possibly happened.

Yay! I was waiting for your reply, Gwen, as it is you that Gwen was named after. Yes, independent she is. :ahoy: I wanted to make her as piratey as possible. And as I wrote the chapter, her personality wasn't hard to capture, I just imagined a girl pirate. Crew of the Avenger: I'M CLEAN! I'M CLEAN! :lol: That's prettymuch their attitude towards her. But Captain Shay, like, adopted her. Yeah, the crew don't like their Captain very much...Prob'ly shouldn't have told you that... :unsure: Oh, whatevvver.
