"Aah..." Cindy slid silently into her warm bed. She peered again at her packed backpack containing her finished homework.
A small lump under her pillow reminded her of her discovery, the one her homework had put out of mind. She reached her hand under the cool fabric. She felt her hand hit the lump, cold and smooth under the pillow.
She remembered the times on the island. She remembered the warm, white sand under her bare feet, the beautiful sunset that made her feel warm all over, the fun and most of all, the boy. She smiled. She didn't have to hide it here.
"I wish we could go there again...just the two of us. Maybe we could stay for longer this time. Not get found as fast," she muttered to the pearl, turning it over in her fingertips. The cool smooth surface massaged her hands.
But she had no idea of the consequences of what she had done only seconds ago.

Daybreak dawned and a pale ray of sun rained through Cindy's window. She eased herself awake. She slid her warm leg out into the uncertainty of the cold bedroom floor. She took a deep breath and, without opening a still dreamy eye, she reached for her backpack in the same place she left it the previous night, only to be awarded with a handful of empty air.
"Huh?" she murmured looking down on the empty spot on the floor, that only the night before had held her bag and her homework assignment. She looked frantically around her room hoping she moved it to another place and it wasn't lost. It sat on her desk chair. Only, it felt lighter than it had the night before.
She checked through her bag to check that her infamous homework assignment was still safe inside as she was sure to double check the night before, only to her disappointment it was empty. Hopelessly empty.




:o Dun Dun Duuunnn! The case of the missing homework? Oh, c'mon, I may not be the best writer, but it isn't that simple! :bunny:

"MOM!" Cindy called from her perch at the small landing on the ugly pink stairs. "Yes?" Sasha Vortex yelled sitting in her elegant dove white chair in the kitchen. Even though it was the family's kitchen table it was still in mint condition.
Cindy rushed down the stairs at her last chance at her missing homework. "Mom?" she asked plead heavy in her voice. "Did you by any chance move my backpack and take out my homework assignment for today?"
"I didn't touch any of your things, Cynthia. Ask your father when he wakes up." Sasha said not even glancing up from her newspaper to lay an uncaring eye on her pitiful, begging daughter.
"But I have to go to school in 15 minutes! Dad won't be up by then and I can't wait for him because I have to keep my perfect attendance!" Cindy worried.
"You will just have to go to school without it." Sasha reasoned.
"I can't though! Neutron's sure to have perfected his already and I am NOT letting him have the satisfaction of beating me THAT easily." Cindy stated.
"Well you have to go to school in a few minutes so you better hurry and do it while you eat." Sasha pushed a plate of eggs her direction.
Cindy stuffed the cold eggs into her full mouth and managed to get it all down her throat in no time flat. She ran up to her room and grabbed her obsolete backpack outside and onto the bus.
She jumped onto the bright yellow bus that was reflecting the rising sun into her still sleepy green eyes.
She walked blindly up the dirty steps to enter the world of reality.

"Hey Cin."
Just by the voice Cindy knew who it was.
"Hi Libs," she murmured, her eyes still droopy with sleep. "What's up?"
"Nothing really. You?" Libby asked.
"Last night we agreed to hang with the guys after school, 'member? Cindy asked with some of her vagueness melting away.
"Hang out with the guys? Have you lost your insane mind?!" Libby practically shouted.
That woke Cindy up from her rouse.
"What?" she asked a dangerously astonished Libby.
"Did you, Cynthia Aurora Vortex, just now in real life, seriously suggest that we, being you and me, hang out with the guys, being Sheen, Carl and Jimmy? Please. Correct me if I'm wrong!" lectured Libby.
"You heard me right. And I wasn't joking. I talked to you about it last night and you said that you would want to. What's up?"
"We didn't talk last night. You said yesterday that you had to go to your aunt's to see your cousins."
"See my cousins? I haven't seen my cousins since the day before we...oh my gosh!" Cindy's eyes bulged and her mouth gaped open as she gasped.
"What's wrong Cind?" asked Libby.
"What's today?" Cindy ignored Libby's question with one of her own.
"What do ya mean? The date is May...eleventh, I think." Libby said. "But, what's wrong?"
"I have to go! I have to go back to my house!" Cindy yelled.
"But then you'll mess wit your perfect attendance record, won't ya?"
Cindy stood up and walked into the bus aisle. "That doesn't matter! I have to get the..." She felt something smooth rubbing on her fingers. She automatically knew what it was she didn't even have to glance down. She bit her lip and she sat back down beside Libby.
"Nevermind," she with her eyes closed and her lips pursed to keep herself bottled up and not screaming at the horror of her situation.




A little better? Maybe? Well reply and TELL ME! ;)
