Dear men of the world: taking something away from me, telling me it is too heavy for me to lift, and lifting it yourself is NOT chivalrous. It is insulting.

Lol, nearly had a feminist EXPLOSION at the school I visited today. Dude took my supply boxes from me so I didn't "hurt" myself. I CARRY THOSE IN AND OUT OF SCHOOLS EVERY DAY, YOU JERK. Taking them away from me just implies I'm too weak to handle them! Which is the complete opposite of true. GRRRRR. *FLEXES MUSCLES*

Dear men: if you would like to be chivalrous without coming across as a sexist douche, here's what you do in the situation Katie described: politely inquire if the woman would like any assistance, and then if she declines, drop the matter.

Oh wow. That stinks, Katie. :( Men are obviously too blind by thier claim to power and to thinking how great they are to remember a very basic ethic: Ask first, do stuff later. Not all men are like that, obviously, but a majority of them are.
