I've been playing Stardew Valley and Stellaris off and on...

I recently bought Stardew for my phone but haven't played it yet. My hubby said Stellaris is really good! I haven't played it yet either.

I'm currently about ten years late but I've jumped on the Minecraft bandwagon, I've been playing it rather addictively. For the longest time I couldn't play it due to motion sickness but I can now with no issues and it's fun.

I'm also occasionally playing Sonic Forces, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon Ultra Moon.

On my phone I play Disney Heroes and someone convinced me to go back to playing Hay Day which I had no idea still existed lol.

I haven't played in a few weeks, but I was playing Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery pretty obsessively for several months this year. Also Stellaris and Sims 4 and Stardew Valley, off and on when I'm in the mood.

Been playing Pokémon Brilliant Diamond for a while now after getting it early this year for my Switch, and after playing it a whole bunch, I finally beat the whole friggin' game! That unlocked some extra features after the game credits rolled, and now I have access to pokémon I never got a chance to encounter in the game before, even years back when I played the regular version of the game(which I lost along with my pink Nintendo DS lite before I had a chance to finish it... :grr:)... I even managed to catch a few legendaries like Dialga and Cresselia! :kawaii: Once I beat the game, I was finally able to get an Eevee! I leveled it up some, then took it to that icy rock near Snowpoint City and leveled it up one more time, getting Glaceon, my fave Eevee evolution! Then I kept it in my party pokemon to level it up further, and before I knew it, Glaceon is level 61! True, it's lower than than the rest of my party pokemon, but it's high enough to win battles against high-level pokemon in the underground area(that was something the developers added in the reboot of this game, which is pretty sweet!)... Man, I love this game! :kawaii:

I remember a funny thing that happened when I played that game. It’s was time to climb Mount Coronet and fight Cyrus. My team so far was a Houndoom, Torterra, Bastiodon, Bibarel, and Jirachi. A Pachirisu with Pickup was occupying the sixth slot until I chose something better.

I figured Simple Bibarel was just going to sweep Cyrus, but the Honchkrow surprised me by getting several critical hits ignoring my defense boosts. Looking at it’s team after, I can see it has Super Luck, Scope Lens, and a high-crit move, so that’s a guaranteed crit. Well played, Cyrus.

After Bibarel fainted, I decided to send in the Pachirisu. I was just hoping to use Nuzzle to slow the Honchcrow down so someone else could take it out without being damaged.

Pachrisu’s moveset was a bit random, as I wasn’t expecting it to actually fight. It just had an assortment of level up moves. The Honchcrow actually lost its turn to paralysis twice and Pachirisu took it out, which was more than I expected of it.

Next up is Crobat, which is weak to electric. It used Tailwind, then immediately died to Discharge. Now the pokemon that wasn’t even supposed to fight has already taken out half of Cyrus’ team single-handedly.

Next up is Gyrados. It tried to defeat Pachirisu, but they’re bulky enough to live the hit with just a couple hp left. Gyarados had a Wacan berry, but is double-weak to electric, so down it goes too. Even better, since it used an item in battle, and Pachirisu doesn’t have one, Pickup actually triggered, and stole the Wacan berry.

Last up is Weavile. Weavile is really fast, Crobat’s Tailwind is still up, and Pachirisu has a single digit HP at the moment. It was a good run, but it’s time to faint and let one of the actual team members take over. I at least use Baby-Doll Eyes to lower Weavile’s attack a bit before it faints the Pachirisu.

However... the move Weavile chose to defeat Pachirisu was Dig, which takes two turns. By chance, one of the level-up moves I kept was Endure, so that Dig does not knock me out. And so it goes: Pachirisu uses Baby-Doll Eyes, Weavile Digs down. Pachirisu uses Endure, Weavile Digs up, and fails to kill. Repeat this until Weavile’s attack is as low as it goes and Crobat’s Tailwind has ended.

At this point I’ve decided that Pachirisu deserves to live, and the opposing Weavile is pretty much useless. Houndoom switches in and finishes the battle. Anyway, that’s how Pachirisu became the sixth member of my team.

My last game played is that new Nick Slime Speedway game with Jimmy and Cindy. I think it’s cool they recorded new lines for that one, and yet they sound exactly like they did 20 years ago!

Jimmy’s a starter character. Does anyone else play that game, and do they know how to unlock Cindy? Because I can’t figure it out.

You know you didn’t even really have to say anything then, but I appreciate the thought.

Carl: Why, Jimmy, why? I would’ve lent you a million dollars!

Sheen: Carl, you don’t have a million dollars!

Carl: Well it’s the thought that counts!

I'm replaying Tomb Raider 1 via emulator, and it is SUCH a trip down memory lane. I'm amazed by how much I remember the levels, despite the fact that I haven't played it in decades. Talk about a genre definer.

Finished Hogwarts Legacy.

Screenshot-2023-08-28-031806.png

It's such an uneven game - so much attention is paid to the visuals, and so little to the story. The protagonist has unbelievable godlike powers, but is incapable of impacting the narrative thru their choices. There's a super obvious parallel between the flashbacks and the present story, but the two plotlines never converge, robbing the player of the ability to make an interesting moral choice (essentially, whether to make the same mistake as their predecessor in order to save a friend).

It's so obvious that there were conflicting ideas about what the game should focus on, and rather than commit to one vision and refine it, they just threw everything at the wall to see what would stick. The focus on deadly combat had the unfortunate side effect of turning a 15 year old into a mass murderer. Don't get me wrong, I loved gallivanting around the countryside casting imperio on trolls, but I never believed the MC was a student even for a second. She was definitely an undercover auror >.<

I loved that you could use the Room of Requirement as a vivarium to house and breed rare beasts (hippogriffs, diricawls, and jobberknolls are SO CUTE). Unfortunately, the uncomfortable antisemitism from the movies (which was barely present in the books) was turned up to a 10 in the game. There are also apparently no goblin women, which is something.

I hope they'll focus more on the actual experience of being a student in their next game, instead of literally fast-forwarding thru staple scenes like the discovery of one's boggart. When they did focus on student stuff (like the quest where you impersonate the headmaster, or the quest to stay awake during history of magic), there were some truly delightful moments. The potential is there. They just need to, you know, not focus on a shitty goblin war nobody cares about.
