If someone does not wish to be alive anymore, it is their preference. It is not wrong at all to wish to be dead. No one knows quite what will happen to the deceased, so if there ARE punishments, they are unknown to the living.

May I ask do you go to church?Interesting question. I'm mixed about it. While I believe that consquences could be held after suicide, I do not believe that it is wrong to commit suicide. Who are we to hold back someone that wants to leave?

Just wondered. and it's not because CHURCH says suicide is wrong, it's because God says it But I really do not want to fight about it so can we just be friend's?What does that have to do with anything? Just because CHURCH may say is wrong, doesn't mean it is.
And yes. I've been to church. But I rarely go.
John 3:16

Now, I DO believe in God, so don't jump to conclusions. I'm just saying that I think it's not wrong for a person to commit suicide if they feel the need to (or if they are seriously in a state of weakness).
I, for one, would never commit suicide (I don't want to even risk what could happen in the afterlife), but I love to read/write sad angsty stories. I highly suggest you give it a chance, just by reading some, before you say that it's the most horrible thing in the world. You don't have to, I'm just saying.
Depressing/angst stories just interest me, I guess.

Suicide in fanfics always sort of sounds...the same. Maybe it's because suicidal people tend to have the same sort of thoughts/internal dialogue towards the end of their lives. Obviously, all people who kill themselves have to arrive at some sort of conclusion to do it, and the process that leads to that conclusion basically sounds the same no matter what the circumstances. Hate to say it, but suici-fics just kind of irritate me. The repetition gets old.
Not to say that suicide isn't a legitimate subject to write about. It is. I LOVE bittersweet stories, but to me, suicide isn't really "bittersweet". Suicide doesn't entail the same tragedy, loss, or unfairness as if someone else did something to hurt you, or if someone else killed a person you loved. When control is taken out of your hands it makes you all the more helpless, all the more hurt, and all the more interesting as a character.
So ya. That's about it. Responses are welcome...but please, if we're gonna argue about the ethical aspect of suicide, then start a new topic on the sheer randomness forum. Otherwise, keep it limited to fanfics.

I take it that you're a relativist?Well, that's YOUR opinion. In many eyes, suicide is not wrong. At all. Just like some people believe that there is no God. Just because YOU say suicide is wrong, doesn't mean that you are right.
Well, keeping Mara's wishes in mind, I don't care for suicide fics much myself. I like sad, but it still has to have a sort of happy twist to it. I like stories that make me cry, but still feel fulfilling in a way. Not ones that make me sad and just leave me in a state of hopelessness and depression. Does this make even a little sense to anyone at all? I don't feel that I'm doing a very good job at explaining myself.

The epilogue (which DOES HAVE A HAPPY ENDING, by the way!!), just kind of filters out all of the horrible things that happened.
JCFOREVER: I really haven't put much thought into it (quite sad). But I appear to support relativism, hmm? Heh. Ah well. The only thing I try to do (highlight the word "try," please, ha) is to understand everyone and attempt to view where everyone is coming from (...which is literally almost impossible), and sometimes I sound like a hypocrite...ACTUALLY, I MIGHT BE ONE. :P
Oh snap, wait...
