Well ladies and gents…
As JN fans I’m sure we’ve all read our fair share of fanfics, some of which were probably really great and others that were…well, not exactly Pulitzer worthy :lol: . But in all our literary misadventures, did we ever stop to think how the characters feel about what we’re writing :blink: ? Cindy and Libby think that we should, and they’d like to take the opportunity to give all fanfic writers, including me, a piece of their mind. Right girls?

Ya, ya, can we dispense with the pleasantries? We came here today to discuss some really important issues, and I want to talk, not listen to you drone on and on.

Mm-hmm. I’ll say. We’ got quite the problem on our hands. My girl Cindy and I have been scrollin’ through some of the fanfics you guys have been writin’ and we’ve got some things to say!

OK, honestly people, I get the whole concept of “artistic license”, but WHY is everyone so monstrously out of character in some of these fanfics? Do you not WATCH the show?

I mean, why do ya all turn our show into some crazy melodrama? Can’t we just get along and have our little adventures like we normally do?

It’s like watching a freakin’ soap opera or something. I mean, 4 times out of 5 one of us ends up pregnant, is diagnosed with some life-threatening disease, or spontaneously commits suicide in the middle of the fanfic. HOW is inexplicable suicide POSSIBLY a good basis for an entire story?

Is there some kind of plotline shortage out there or do y’all just not feel like bein’ creative? I mean, I love the whole “school dance” thing or whatever, but after the fifteenth time it gets a little old. And don’t even get me started on the “new kid comes to town” pitch. I mean, half the time the kid is some Mary Sue version of the author and the other half o’ the time it’s an undercover villain. I mean, with all these masqueradin’ villains runnin’ around, you think we’d figure it out!

Ya, and what’s up with the whole “amnesia” thing? Why does it take memory loss to sort out our problems?

And why is poor Carl always left out? So he’s allergic to everythin’, scared of everythin’, obsessed with llamas, and in love with Jimmy’s mom. He still matters too!

Oh, and did we mention the twisted romance?

OK, here’s what gets me. How is it that half the stories out there manage to turn a child's show into a full-out porn? Is this some kind of hidden talent you authors possess? And why are you all so obsessed about my “relationship” with Jimmy? OK, so we argue sometimes, but that doesn’t mean we’re madly in love!

Oh really…

I mean, I read through some of this stuff and I was just like...“eeew!” Neutron and I would never do THAT! And if we did, we certainly wouldn’t be doing it in public! So much kissing and schmoozing and touching and…ugh!

Well, I’ll tell you what bothers me. How come Sheen and I always take a back seat to Jimmy and Cindy’s whole love-hate thing? What’s so wrong with us? Not to mention that our relationship is usually portrayed as childish and sweet with no problems, or MILES ahead of Jimmy and Cindy in that we kiss in public and are clearly havin’…uh…adult relations. And what’s with the spontaneous make-out sessions between me and Sheen? What do ya think, I’m easy or somethin’? I’m not just some party girl. I have thoughts and feelings and smarts too!

I know! Jeez! And what’s up with Nick being portrayed as an abusive, alcoholic wife-beater type? So he’s a bit of a bad boy…that doesn’t mean he’s gonna turn into a total felon. And ya gotta love that oh-so-original knight in shining armor story where Neutron has to rescue me from being exploited by our favorite rapist, Nick. Well, I’ll have you know I can take care of myself!

While we’re on the topic of relationships, how come April and Betty are always portrayed as evil, connivin’ man-eaters eager to knock off Cindy and steal Jimmy?

Well, at least that’s not TOO far off.

Anyway, could you try to tone down this stuff just a little bit? It might not have occurred to ya, but what you write actually HAPPENS to us. It’s bad enough gettin’ dragged around on all sorts of stupid adventures on the show, but then you guys come along and before ya know it, we’re a bunch of emotionally skewed, bed hoppin’ tramps!

So let’s try to keep it real, people. I don’t think we’re asking much here. Just try to put yourselves in our shoes for a minute and maybe you’ll understand. How would you feel if some knock-off with a pen could control your every move?

Anyway, thanks for readin’, and thanks to all you authors out there who DO put two shreds of thought into what you’re writin’. We hope to see more of you in the future.

I gave up on "Pain" after a couple of chapters. Other than the names, that fic bears no resemblance whatsoever to the show upon which is supposedly based.

You missed one of my pet peeves. Any time I see a fic start with "Jimmy and Cindy and the gang are now 37 years old" or something like that, the mouse automatically wanders up to the red X.

By the way, I know some stories have the gang OOC, but that may be because it's an AU? I'll be honest...whenever someone randomly puts Jimmy and Cindy smooching out of no where, it pesters me. If they're going to suck each other's faces, make them do it it right (and completely in character)!!

I try not to, but I hate it when romance scenes are rushed. -_-

Me too! Which might be why it took me like 120 pages for any serious J/C to develop in my story...hahahaha ;)

Actually, I missed a number of my own pet peeves too. Like I've read several fanfics that give Sheen this dark, twisted home life. I'm like...come on. He's SHEEN.

WTF? Sheen would never cheat on Libby. He's just a womanizer. Cindy is independent and can take care of herself and needs help rarely. Libby is nice and loves music. Jimmy is not a emo. HE'S ONLY JUST A GENIUS. I don't like Nick, but Nick's turned into "the drunk abusive rapist" in fanfiction. C'mon people. Stay true to the show. D<

P.S. And yeah, why is Carl left out? If he's in, he's turned into a mature adult. WHAT? That's so not Carl! D<

I know, right? I read "Pain", and it was without a doubt the most melodramatic, massively OOC piece of JN fanfiction I have ever laid eyes upon. I mean...Cindy's dad being an abuser? Sheen's dad an alcoholic? JIMMY'S dad a wife beater??? As in that gentle, clueless guy obsessed with pie and ducks?? WTF?
And then there's the kids...Nick's a druggie girlfriend beater, Cindy is a push-over who can't even articulate her thoughts, Sheen's a cheater, Jimmy's a cheater, and everyone seems to be experiencing SEVERE mental issues. Not to mention the fact that practically everyone has slept with everyone else! Sheen and Cindy, Jimmy and Libby...I was like...eww! You perverted writer! Put that pen away before you hurt someone!
And then, as if things weren't soap-operish enough, the author had to go and give Jimmy a brain tumor. Hello! He's a genius! Why can't he cure the thing? Why can't he give Nick a piece of one of his inventions? Where the heck ARE his inventions???
Anyway, this little commentary by Cindy and Libby was my way of having the last laugh in terms of fics like that one.

Yes, but it is SO OOC. The thing that really bugs me is that Cindy's...like....ugh! She actually let Nick beat her senseless! The real Cindy would've kicked Nick's butt, and if Jimmy did that for REAL she'd throw a tantrum!!!

But NO, Cindy endures Nick's beatings, and blah. And the characters who have NOTHING going on sleep with eachother? Jimmy would never betray Cindy's trust like that. Neither would Libby. Sheen cheating on Libby is just...just....EWWWW! [/end rant]

Oh man, DON'T get me started on those fics! >_<

This is EXACTLY why I never, never even glance at the Jimmy Neutron, FF.Net section anymore, I looked at it once, & never again! <_<

But while the OOC-ness can really get to me, the WORST for me, is how they manage to "shove" Betty into the picture, & ALWAYS have her OOC.

I mean really, what did those writers do? Watch a few Betty Quinlan featured episodes, then turn around & watch a few Paulina (Danny Phantom) centered episodes? That sure as heck is what it sounds like! =_=

Its just.. why in the WORLD would Betty want to hurt ANY of the main JN group? Apart from Vanishing Act, in which Sheen (the "into art" joke he made) & Cindy got on her nerves a bit, but apart from that, she's NEVER had any reasons to willingly hurt any soul, at ALL.

I honestly don't care very much about the Nick OOC fics, since well, I don't like him at all, as he is. But it DEFINITELY gets to me to see Cindy being all helpless & everything, but worse, JIMMY just has to be the one to save her.. Couldn't they build up a JB fic in the same sense, &make an OC for Cindy & have that guy save her? I mean really.. the JC-ness is just.. UGH.


Now listen, I've said it countless times to you guys, the JC IN the show, that doesn't bother me very much, if at all. All I do, when that comes up on my TV, I simply change the channel. :rolleyes:

But the reason JN's ff.net section has me FREAKED, is because these are FANS of the show, not the creators, the FANS.

ou'd think, with all their JC-support, they'd give the couple REASONABLE adventures, something that you'd really find on the show!

Now I understand a FEW mushy fics, after LSTN & KoM (if their JC fans, its expected :rolleyes:) I won't complain. BUT, they've GOT to be reasonable. Remember how JC reacted in KoM & LSTN? Yes, they WERE mushy, but only at certain points of the episodes, & definitely not in public! I mean really people, yeesh!! -_-


SL, I do NOT see them cheating on each other! & I don't see Carl & Elke just.. breaking up either! These couples were created for a reason, & I honestly believe they'll stay together. Why else would Crouching Jimmy, Hidden Sheen have been made, right? :wub:

For CE, that's true, Elke's only had one episode, but it seems to me, she's known Carl (they're pen pals, hello!) for more than just a couple months. You don't get a crush on someone, & they return it THAT fast. It just doesn't work like that.

So, while I definitely can't speak for FF.Net's writers, I know I'll try my very BEST to keep everyone, & I mean EVERYONE in character throughout any fanfics I try. :)

Note: Don't expect any of my fics up soon, but I do have every intention of working on them, it just takes time. :)
