IDOJ, here me out; I think you should watch this.
Teenage girl Luz Noceda accidentally comes across a portal to the Demon Realm. There Luz befriend the rebellious witch Eda Clawthorne and her tiny demon friend, King. Luz decides to stick around, become a witch's apprentice and eventually finds a new family in an unlikely setting.
Luz is enthusiastic, loyal, and brave. She's an idealist and always tries to be like the heroes from her books. Her rash actions can sometimes get her and her friends in trouble, but she learns and grows and is very relatable. Very lovable goofball.
Eda is the classic cynical but wise mentor. She is confident, sassy, and very rebellious. She was never really accepted by the world for her brash personality and chronic illness, but she eventually becomes a caring mother figure for Luz and King.
King is loud, feisty, and comedic. He wants to be much bigger and important than he is, and often gets into more shenanigans than he can handle. He is also prone to dropping lots of snarky quips.
The show's deals in theme of individuality and conformity. It's got an exciting mystery, with lots of cryptic clues and big reveals. Lots you can learn if you pay close attention. The aesthetic of the world somehow combines being both beautiful and grotesque. The animation is amazing; Some of the action scenes are especially smooth. Its queer representation is hella good. I couldn't imagine seeing something like this coming from Disney even just five years ago. It warms my heart seeing my young cousins being able to grow up with characters like that.
This show is often compared to Gravity Falls. There is some sense to that. They both have elements of mystery and fantasy. Eda is very similar to Stan for the first half of season 1. Also, Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, is here and plays King. I would actually describe this show as closer to Steven Universe. Basically Steven Universe if you removed 90% of the filler episodes. Lots of things happen in little time.
I've been watching this show since season 1 finished, and have been obsessed since season 3 started. I think y'all should watch it to. I would rate this show as higher than both Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. I will go further than that: This point might be a bit heretical, but if the last two episodes that have yet to come out are as good as the one we just got and wrap the story up in a satisfying way, then this show could give ATLA a run for its money!
After the latest episode, I've been reading fanfiction again, because I love these characters so much. I haven't done that since I read all sorts of Jimmy Neutron fics in 2011-2013.
There is more to the show than I've let on, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers because I do really think this show is worth watching. It's on Disney+ if you want to watch it. It's also probably on your favourite pirate site, too.

Why did you pick that name, little bird? Tell me your secrets!

I just re-watched Any Sport in a Storm. When Hunter is pretending to be a student, he flounders at coming up with a fake name to tell Willow and Gus. Flapjack tweets something in his ear and he then gives the name Caleb. That’s an interesting name choice in present context.
Why did you pick that name, little bird? Tell me your secrets!
Love those little Easter eggs

I wanted to shoutout a tumblr I came across: https://moringmark.t...com/tagged/toh/
They've been posting daily Owl House comics for a while now. Most are set between/during specific episodes, with some being long before or after the show, or in certain AUs. They got a nice mix of cute moments, the angst, and the funny. There's got to be at least 300 of them.
So anyway, that's what I spent my morning doing.
Here's a choice one I found funny:

I watched the first couple episodes again. Eda feels a little like Grunkle Stan, as many people have mentioned. This time I also got Invader Zim vibes from King. Luz is a living personification of the “This is fine” meme.

I've been watching this show religiously during Season 1 (Eda is my favorite character btw) but I stopped watching after Season 2a because of school (T_T). Disney Plus just launched in my country and I'm already subscribed so I'll definitely pick up where I left off in the future haha
