Spoilers ahead! Do not read this review if you have not seen The Last Jedi! You have been warned!

[And please, kindly remember that I'm just another idiot on the internet with an opinion. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind with this review…I'm just sharing my reaction, because none of my friends are online right now and I need to mouth off to somebody].

I'm planning on seeing it this weekend, likely Sunday the latest. So I'll be avoiding all spoilers until then.

My review coming later.

I just saw the movie. Gonna need to collect my thoughts. Overall, I really liked it, but I could definitely understand if someone didn't.

Well, I've got my R2D2 pin ready to wear to the theater, because...when else am I gonna wear that?!

I'm not sure about my Han/Leia pin, though. That might be kinda f*cked up, considering these new movies are kinda...f*cked up.

To be clear, I am not going because I'm expecting to like it! I'm going because I want to be able to have the same first viewing experience as others, discuss it with them while it's still the hot topic, and see Carrie Fisher's last performance.

And also to see if they really did make Poe gay. Because if they did, it officially means that tumblr has WAY too much power.

Let's see this.

My sinus allergy came back today. SAD! Plus, since my Art final is tomorrow I didn't want to risk catching a cold or flu waiting in line or around other people as a result of it. Not to mention I have a BUUSY week coming up and I can't afford to get sick. So.... Star Wars postponed until later this week or sooner.

Disappointing but I'm gonna watch this in theaters if it's the last thing I do this year!

I! PROMISE!

Update: I wore both pins.

Spoiler

I'll have to wait to either see it again to gather more thoughts, but if anyone else wants to discuss it with me privately, I'm totally game.

And I apologize for too much capslock. I'm too passionate.

P.S. Also, was there any reason for this to be 2 hours and 33 minutes? I was so tired.

Since my last post, I have had time to really think about the movie and how I felt about it. Some of my feelings have changed, and some have not. Overall, I still like it, but I definitely have some issues. I made a (very long) Facebook post about it, so I'll just paste it here. And of course, these are only my opinions. If you guys disagree, that's totally fine. This is definitely a movie where I can see both points of view.

Also, who were Rey's parents? Apparently, they were "nobodies". Well... how does she have the Force then? It's been made pretty clear that it's genetic (Qui-gon flat-out asked Anakin's mother "Who was his father?") I understand that they want to create something new that doesn't feel tied to the previous movies, but I'm sorry, the lore has been established. You can't just ignore it whenever you want. You can't just give a character the Force and not expect us to wonder about it.

That's actually not quite true. Force Sensitivity can and does run in families, but it doesn't have to. Just like two parents with brown eyes can give birth to a child with blue eyes (if both parents carry the recessive allele for blue), two run-of-the-mill parents in Star Wars can have a child who is Force Sensitive. This is established pretty extensively both in the old EU and in the newer supplemental materials that are coming out.

What else can I say, but...the porgs were pointless.

They actually added those because the island where they filmed was absolutely INFESTED with Puffins, and they had to cover them up somehow. They decided on CGI spacebirbs.

Oh... Okay, then. I never read any of the EU stuff. My only experience with Star Wars has been the movies and the animated shows.

Yeah, that part didn't bother me at all. It's actually kind of a nice twist that there...was no twist. She's allowed to be a nobody.

Finally saw this later last year! While I do agree with everything y'all said, I personally thought it was just as epic as TFA! I effin' loved every part of it! Now I really wanna see The Rise of Skywalker! :la: :kawaii:
