Whenever I post here; I seem to bring conflict. Please let me explain some of my thoughts on this project and try to defuse this situation.
First of all, thank you very much to whoever read my blog and to latinvortex for your kind words. I'm still trying to get a following for my blog and my newly published novel, so I greatly appreciate every hit, comment, and purchase. Latin Vortex, I'm very happy that I'm one of your favorite authors. I've appreciated your reviews ot my work. If you have any other questions or comments about my work, please feel free to send me a message on fanfiction.net . As far as letting you read the scripts; I've asked my writing partner Ed what he thinks. We've been keeping a tight seal on the documents in case of the very slim chance that Nick one day changes their mind. That is of course very unlikely, but we like to keep our bases covered. If we do decide to let others read them, there would never be a fee for that.
To speak bluntly, I feel like this is a very inclusive website and is hard to break into. I never know of this site until a few years ago. If i had known it existed back when JN was around and had just ended, I'm sure I would have loved to be a part of this community. Obviously Mara did a great job of creating a place where fans of JN can come and hang out; and it is a very well made site. I've never said anything bad about this site and would have liked to be a larger part of it in the past, but again, I didn't know it even existed.
I'll now comment on some of the other issues that Corinne raised.
We chose not to include the IDOJ community because, as I said, Ed and I were never a part of it. As Latinvortex insinuated, we thought it best we stick to a small creative team. It was hard enough working with 5 people (Myself, Ed, Saundra, Keith, & Mike) considering none of us were in the same location. It was very chaotic making sure we were all up to date on all of our research and writing. And again, we didn't know people from this site. Ed, Saundra, and myself were friends and we respected each other's writing ability, which is why we worked on this together.
I want to be clear that I harbor no ill feelings towards people on this site or the site itself. Just because I am not an active member of something does not mean I detest it.
We also knew that our chances were very slim, but we figured this was the best way to revive the show. Standard show revival attempts had already been made, so we figured trying to revive the show with us as new writers was, at the very least, a bold and new tactic that would draw some attention and respect. It also helped that Mike had in "in" with Nickelodeon, as I mentioned on the blog.
Lastly, we never intended to "usurp" the show from its viewers. We were already working with two members of the JN's creative team (MIke & Keith). We got feedback from two of its previous writers and also contacted its showrunner Jed Springarn, who gave us his blessing. We never really considered that people would be unhappy if we brought the show back; we figured they'd be happy. If they didn't want to watch the new show, they didn't have to. We never had any plans whatsoever to retroactively change the earlier JN episodes or movie, which is the only move I could picture upsetting the fans. And again, we weren't trying to steal this project from its old crew. We were working in conjunction with many of them. While we were all very eager to work as writers for JN, a show that greatly inspired us, we also expected that Nickelodeon would have additional writers working with us. We would have welcomed to work with older writers of JN.
I hope that clears some things up.
