*peeks in shyly* Uh... hi there! *waves* So I'm a humble writing grad student who'd ostensibly retired from fanfic a few years back when she got accepted into grad school and realized her time for non-academic/fun writing was pretty much nil.

Then I got the flu this week, ended up bedridden for five days, and decided to rewatch JN on a whim (which this lovely site helped with greatly!). And I fell completely back in love with it, and, being a ridiculous, smushy person, ended up rediscovering my soft spot for Jimmy/Cindy. So I figured, what the hell, my master's thesis can wait, let's toss out some angsty/sappy fanfic for old times' sake.

I'm SERIOUSLY out of practice on fic-writing (and fiction writing in general), but I did read a bunch of fics and the threads about fic dislikes here before I dove in. It ended up being a little (okay, a lot) sappier than I'd intended, but I'll be very professional and blame it on the fever (that I totally still have, let's run with that). I have a multi-chaptered fic in the works that I'm kind of poking at, but I'd dearly love some feedback/concrit on my first foray into the fandom before I get too far into it, if anyone'd like to give it a readthrough. You know, if you're really bored or something.

Welcome, Bri! My name's Katie. I also stumbled upon this site when I was in grad school and rediscovered my love for JN. This show is a wonderful distraction from thesis work.

 

That was about five years ago now (wow, has it really been that long?). Anyway, the point being--this community is awesome and people tend to stick around for a long time. Looking forward to seeing you around the forums!

And a random JN thought of the day: I suddenly understand Jimmy's snide comments about capris after one of my foster kittens decided to chew on the cuffs of mine today and swing by his teeth, scratching his little paws at my ankle. Owww.

Wrote a brief continuation/epliogue/whatevs to "Status Quo," and while I'm still not entirely sure it needed one, I'm not too displeased with how it turned out. Kind of.

Thanks, guys! And underwater, I did write a few really terrible JN fic fragments in my teens, but fortunately for my sake and that of everyone reading, I never published them. This is my first actual foray into writing for the fandom.

Oh, I'm a definite writing slacker, ha — I'm just kind of slacking on my thesis while I use fanfic to try and break through THAT writer's block. We'll see if the multichaptered fic I have in the works helps on both ends. *fingers crossed*
