So I was inspired by Mara's TOSOT Artwork topic...the art has always been my fave part of tosot. I didn't really like Aurora the first time I read the fanfiction, but after re-reading it I really started to like her a lot more and appreciate all the ways in which she is a fascinating character.

Anyway, I was looking through all the art, and I decided to make an "Aurora through the years" thread with just Mara's pics to see how Aurora developed visually/character-wise from when Mara first drew her until now. I went to a lot of effort to put the pics in chronological order, which is saying something because Mara draws Aurora A LOT, like more than anyone else :rolleyes: I used her page on deviantart and the dates provided on each deviation to put them in order - hopefully that website is correct. Hope you guys like this tribute to a character I didn't like at first but now love!

Holy shit on a shingle. I...have a problem :blink: I actually forgot about some of these. Where the hell did you even dig them up? My scraps gallery?

But yeah, wow. My favorite is still the pic with severed head. Just sayin' :rolleyes:

It's not just the severed head! I put a lot of effort into shading that whole pic. THAT GREEN & PURPLE BLOOD CAME OUT REALLY WELL OK :rolleyes:

You know, "badass" isn't technically a swear. "Ass" is only a swear half of the time, after all, and when combined with bad, it becomes both a noun and an adjective of its own. You can write it without a smidgen of guilt :thumbsup:

So I just did the math: 85 months of drawing, with 50 pictures total, means that Mara drew a new pic of Aurora (on average) every 1.7 months

Oh and I forgot to say but my fave pic is the one where she's underwater with the green bubbles

Wow! I haven't seen a lot of these before. Nice job digging them all up :thumbsup:

And my fav pics are the newest one and the one from 2008 with the masks and the flames. I always thought the pose was so interesting, and I very much envy your ability to draw pretty fire >.< I must learn the technique.

I made a tutorial on flame-drawing at one point (which I may or may not have already posted on IDOJ). It's not for green flames, unfortunately, but the same principles should apply:

I totally love the one where Aurora looks as if she's being experimented on, with her back to the viewer and it being as if she's clawing the wall in front of her. Totally...BADASS!!! :thumbsup:

Em: I think it's just an optical illusion caused by the stock of the gun...it looks fine in the sketch (at least, to me):

If anything, I'd say the biggest anatomy problem with the colored pic is Libby's neck/shoulder area. :facepalm:
