So...do you care at all? Or just accept people have different opinions. For the most part I try not to care, but if someone is overly hateful towards it I get upset. I guess I just want people to like it so I can discuss it with other people. (like IDOJ for Jimmy Neutron)

Do any of you have examples of things you love that other people don't?

C'mon, don't leave me in the dust! I've been feeling like a thread killer lately.

I actually get more miffed when people love things I hate than the reverse...just a personality quirk of mine, I guess.

I'm that way, too. It bothers me that I can't see what everyone else sees.

I think it is a natural response to be a little put off by that. There would be a lot less arguments if it wasn't.

Yeah, it does bother me =/ I mean I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when someone is overly hateful about something I love it can definitely be annoying.

Does it change your view of it when other people hate it or do you see it the same way? Sorry, I don't know if that made sense...

Like does it make me like it less when other people talk about why they hate it? I don't think so. Usually it just strenghtens my opinion of it because it makes me think of all the reasons why I love it.

It only really bothers me when the people who don't like what you like make you sound like an idiot for liking it.. does that make sense?

Someone the other day made fun of people who like Glee, and I got so mad.... GRR! Seriously.

I don't call you stupid because you hunt or watch sports, neither of which I love! :( It makes me sad.

Yeah, I get what you mean. Personal insults based on opinions, not cool.

I can't believe I never replied to this... I mean, yeah, it bugs me a little when some people don't like things I like, but I still respect their decisions. To each their own, right? But when some people make an effort to constantly bash something I really like, that's what really ticks me off, like what Urvy did with the J/C pairing... Like, that is so not cool; how would some of the bashers like it if I bashed something they really liked? Huh?? See my point there? It's okay to disagree, but not to try to crush something someone else really likes... Please... >.< :protest: <_< :grr:

Yes it does, and that makes me upset........... but like Emily said, people constantly bashing things I like is really upsetting.  :(

Also, like others have said in earlier posts in this topic, I can't understand how other people really like something I really can't stand. I mean, I respect their opinions and all, but it baffles me as to how they like those things that I hate... Like, what do you see in those things, seriously? Like horror movies, for example... I just don't get it; what's so great about them?? I never wanna see them, cuz they'd give me nightmares and would scare the (*ahem* pardon my French...) hell outta me... :onfire: Like, count me OUT when those are concerned!! *runs away from them, hands over my head and screaming*

Yeah, I don't particularly care for horror movies, but my sister does. I tease her about it occasionally, but it's all in good fun. Some people like being scared. It's just a difference in taste! I'm sure even you and I have differences in the things we enjoy/ dislike. (There are very few things I hate with gusto I just feel ambivalent toward them).

You know, I would say that it's good we all don't like the same things or the world would be a very boring place!

Yeah, you're telling me! It would be almost like the Fairly OddParents ep called "Same Game"; now that would be bizarre-o!! Be even crazier if everyone looked the same! :o

Lately several people have asked me if I watch the show You on Netflix. I sat through the first season and was seriously irritated with the main character the whole time. It was incredibly cheesy IMO.

I honestly don't care if someone hates something that I love or loves something that I hate. Everyone has their own opinions and I respect them. The only time it would really anger me is if they kept constantly talking about why they hate/love it so much. If I hate something, I say it once and then that's it. I don't keep talking about why I hate it. On Facebook, I have people on there who do that, they constantly talk about how much they hate or love something and it's annoying. I am friends with people who have differing opinions than me because I don't let difference of opinion ruin a friendship. Like for instance, Emily said she despises horror movies because they terrify her. I, on the other hand, love horror movies. They are my favorite movie genre and everyone in my family are all horror freaks. That's our main choice of movie whenever we watch one. However, just because she hates them doesn't mean I'm not going to be her friend. People can like whatever they want. It won't bother me.

I agree. I have a close friend who likes a lot of shows that I don't like but I don't tell her how terrible I think they are. She knows I'm not a fan of those shows, and we just talk about stuff that we both like. I think it used to bother me more when I was younger that people would bash things I like, but now I am just accepting that we all have different tastes. I like horror movies too (not torture ones though) but I can definitely see why they wouldn't be some people's cup of tea.

I don't care honestly but it only bothers me when they're becoming too much (especially on hating it). Like I don't need to see multiple posts on my feed about why my favorite show sucks and spreading false information about it (this is a Twitter disease, sadly)

This kinda thing can even get into political territory, but as long as it's not shoved in my face about what I oppose and they keep it to themselves(if that even makes sense lol), then I don't give a crap what they do... But when it is through posters, signs, etc..., it really ticks me off... :grr: Like, I get it, you like someone/something I don't, but I don't need it to be shoved in my face about how great that individual/thing is... It works both ways, too; if people can't stand who I support, let me enjoy that and don't let it ruin your day/week/whatever... I'll respect what you support and would very much like it if you respected what I support, and just leave it at that and we can talk about what we DO have in common... It really hurts my feelings if anyone is so dang offended by what/who I support that he/she would go to the extreme and break off their friendship with me, though I bet that would hurt anyone's feelings, not just mine... :( Just respect what I like/support, and I'll respect yours, too; we just won't discuss those topics together... We can just discuss the things we do agree on, okay? ;)
