I'm making an attempt at writing an original JN fan fiction but I can't seem to come up with any ideas for a story. Perhaps your input will give me one. I don't want any crossovers.

Ooo, I just got a BRILLIANT idea for a fanfic!! Here goes!

Cindy's on vacation, and Jimmy isn't, sometime during the summer. Late at night, he hacks into her computer and finds personal messages she wrote detailing her frustration about not being able to say she loves him, among other things. After reading them and turning in for the night, and for a good while after that, he tries EVER so hard to keep his hacking facade a secret, but can he after Cindy returns from her vacation a few days later?? Only time will tell!

What do you guys think??

I think that sounds like you're trying to entice him to write a sequel to 'Cindy's Letter'.

Sounds good, but I'm not familiar with "Cindy's Letter". I'll read that then maybe write a first draft of this so called "sequel". I can already imagine the timeline and plot.

But it only occurred to me that I would have to create an alternate setting where the events of "Stranded" never took place.

Why? Couldn't you work your way around the fact that Stranded did happen??

But according to the author, Cindy's Letter takes place AFTER 'Stranded' so I don't see the need to not make it happen.

Ohh...is it that you want them to admit their feelings in your fic instead of on the island? Cause I don't think you have to erase "Stranded" for that. (Or maybe I'm totally off the mark...it wouldn't exactly be a rare occurrence. )

This is totally random, but I generally don't approve of an author writing a sequel or prequel to a fic written by another author, without the original writer's permission. It seems like cashing in on their popularity, somehow.

Just my opinion, though.

I didn't mean it THAT way, Mara. I was intending for that idea to spark something original, something unique... Ya can't blame a girl for tryin'! *innocent shoulder-shrug* Ya gotta admit; it was a pretty good idea to start with.

Well, I AM the original author...but I agree with your point, Mara.

I guess it all depends on whether he actually writes the fic or not, and whether it's intended as a sequel, or just something inspired by 'Cindy's Letter'. Or maybe something totally new, going in a completely different direction! Who knows?

Hey, on a completely random note, I actually have a really short prompt that's been brewing away on my computer for a while now, and I was wondering whether anyone might like to give it a crack. It's just the first few paragraphs of a story that I ran out of inspiration for, really, but I'm interested to see whether anyone else can do something awesome with it.

It's super open-ended -- normal universe, JImmy's just invented something new (possibly Ultra-Lord related?) and is trying to convince Carl to act as a test subject.

Anyone interested? I can post it here if you like.
