Rob Paulsen (Carl Wheezer)

I thought I'd start off with Rob Paulsen first because he is one of the busiest voice actors in the business. He's been doing voices since the early 1980s with bit-parts in shows like The Smurfs, The Snorks, G.I. Joe, and even several movies like Stewardess School, Body Double, and a guest role in MacGyver. Nearly 30 years!
Rob's first big break was in 1987 when he worked on the very first Ninja Turtles cartoon. He was the voice of Raphael in the 80s/90s toon. As many of us probably know, he's in the new rebooted version coming out next fall, where this time, he'll be playing Donatello.
Rob's probably best-known for his roles as Yakko and Pinky in Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain. These two shows for me, were what got me interested in Rob's work. I was a big fan of these two shows in the mid-90s. I got in on Pinky and the Brain about 1/4 of the way through the first season in 1995 and was an Animaniacs fan shortly after that in 1996 when I got into it during the middle of season 3. I started paying attention to the credits one day, just to see who the voices of these shows were, and even remember picking up a 1996 Nick magazine where the Animaniacs voice actors had all been interviewed. The show won a Kids Choice Award that year and the show was at the height of its popularity along with the Pinky and the Brain spinoff.
Sadly, we lost Earl Kress a few days ago to cancer. He was a writer on both of these two shows and many other Warner Brothers properties, along with some 80s cartoons as well.
It was because of Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain that I became very interested in voice acting and voice actors in general. I've been following Rob's work for years, and have gotten to meet him a few times at conventions. He's a really nice guy. Way back when we kept in touch via e-mail and it was him who told me about the JN movie in 2001, about 7 or 8 months before it came out. I had seen the ads later on in November/December and wasn't too sure I'd like it because growing up in the 80s and 90s, I was so used to 2-D animation. I went to see it anyway, though, because he was in it as Carl Wheezer, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I saw it the day before Christmas in 2001.
I didn't get into the JN series until 2004, about mid-way through the second season. Love Potion was the ep that got me hooked and have been a fan ever since.
I saw a topic about The Looney Tunes Show - he is in that. He plays one of the goofy gophers, and he was the game show host for Besties. He's doing lots of VA work in that right now, along with doing Donatello for the new TMNT series coming out next fall on Nick. With twitter and Facebook now, it's a lot easier for me and other fans to keep up with what he is doing.
Rob has taken on a new venture as of May of this year - voiceover coach, for one, and a new set of shows called Rob Paulsen Live!, where Rob goes to a large city and basically talks to fans about his life and career for a few hours. At the end he meets with everyone individually and gives them an autograph. These seminars are about $100.
Rob also does a podcast segment called "Talkin' Toons" every Friday. Sometimes he even has guests on his podcast shows. Recently, he had Tom Ruegger from Animaniacs/Pinky and the Brain two weeks ago, and a few weeks prior to that he had Butch Hartman from FOP and T.U.F.F. Puppy.
Keeping up with Rob is easier than ever - he's yakkopinky on twitter if you want to follow him. You can search for his name on Facebook and add him as a friend. And Rob's website with information about his seminars and podcasts is www.robpaulsenlive.com.

Okay, this is uber geeky and nerdy and kind of silly, but PLEASE just read this message to the end! If you don't want to do this, I TOTALLY understand.
It has been one of my dreams to meet a man by the name of Rob Paulsen. It's really quite silly, but he's voiced so many of my favorite cartoon characters, and, if you don’t know this I guess I’ll just tell you all, I'm planning to get into the TV industry and write cartoons. As you can imagine, this would be a dream come true for me to meet him!!! All you have to do is ask that he come to Utah Valley University. He likes to have small seminars, and the great thing is, YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO GO (because none of you can...hehehe). You can just request it and forget it ever happened! Great, huh? Then I get to meet him and...well…you get to feel great about yourself! Isn't that just wonderful?
So if you can't tell, I'm literally freaking out as I write this message. It really would be a HUGE dream if he could come here and I could actually MEET a hero from my childhood. Again, you don't have to do this, but please, please, please, if you can and if you're willing, PLEASE request he come here!!!!! The Chicago Metro Area is in the lead with only a pathetic nineteen requests. That would be so easy to beat! Please help me out!!! PLEASE!!!
Thanks for reading!
Vivian
STEPS:
1) Go to the website: http://eventful.com/...rofile_dconfirm
2) Request that he come to Utah Valley University (there should be a “Demand at your college” option in the bottom right corner).
3) Follow what it tells you to do and KA-BLAM! You're on your way to making me a very, very happy girlie!
If you have any questions, shoot me a message. I’d be happy to answer. Thanks again for reading this. I know these kinds of messages are annoying, but when I found out about this, I just flipped. If you could help me out, I'd love you for forever.
