Yeah, it's true, sadly... I was literally THIS close to breaking down into tears when I read that! I know he's just a fictional character, but still, poor Jimmy...

Ohh, you're not alone in feeling sympathy, Emily. Plenty of fanfictions make me cry for the sake of the characters or just because of the overall atmosphere of what's going on. It doesn't mean I don't like it, if its well-written and all, but it sure can get an emotional response out of me.

My biggest problem with M-rated fics is that people seem to think that means they MUST include extremely graphic sex scenes, unstomachable gore, swears in every sentence including narration, etc. I don't mind sex scenes if they serve a purpose and don't describe every detail of the act to me. I don't mind violence as long as I'm not reading about every beautiful detail of the injury. And I honestly can't stand when people swear in narrative sentences unless the story is written in first person. It just seems a bit tasteless to me. I mean, the more swears you have, the less effective the language is in dramatic situations. If a character originally has a filthy mouth, that's one thing. But aging up the characters and then having them say dirty, cruel, awful things every time their mouth opens? Ugh annoys me to no end.

By my original rule of no linking, I was trying to prevent things like that. We all have different thresholds for that and I figured that not allowing links to M rated stories would avoid the whole issue altogether.

No, I completely understand the reason for the rule. Its hard to tell what kind of fanfiction will make people uncomfortable and what people are fine with, so its easy just to rule out the extremes altogether. I usually don't go by the ratings at all, because that's a little too general. I just go by what it contains specifically and why. You actually brought to my attention what they were rated in the first place, since I never even knew until now. *shrugs*

I'm a sucka for the J/C. Too bad Basco and Whitman never got their

roles and they didn't show a lot of J/R, it would have been a second milestone for Goode too!
