I figured, since I now have an iPod with wireless Internet, I'd copy my laptop's JN fics to IDOJ using my iPod!! Here's one of them!!!! Enjoy!


Hope For the Hopeless

Chapter 1: A New Home


Slap!. Kaitlyn, a young, 36-year-old mother who knew almost nothing about parenting, slapped her 17-year-old daughter Natalie's bare back for the 30th time with a leather belt that rainy day in October. She, Natalie, was also covered with quite a few bruises and scars, evidence of Kaitlyn's abusive behavior to her daughter. When something didn't go her way, Kaitlyn was very abusive to her daughter. She also frequently used foul language when she was yelling at her. She didn't want to admit it, but that mother had a SERIOUS drinking problem, and anytime therapy was offered her way, a long stream of abusive language landed on whoever it was.

"Mom, stop it!!!! You're hurting me!!!!" Natalie cried out in pain, trying in vain to escape her abusive mother.

"SHUT UP!!!!!!" she shouted, "And BE QUIET!!!! Hey! Where do you think you're going, you :uhoh: :uhoh: ??!!!!"

"A-Aw-way f-f-from Y-YOU!! I-I've H-HAD it with y-your abusive p-p-parenting, s-so I-I'm r-running aw-way!!" Natalie exclaimed through her tears of anguish, carrying what little she had in a battered suitcase, walking out the front door, and slamming it behind her.

With that, she ran to the nearest shelter, which was underneath the auning of a nearby produce store, sat underneath it with her suitcase laying next to her, and cried her eyes out while hugging her knees.

Unbeknownst to her, a red convertible family roadster pulled up next to her. The family in it was just returning home from a family vacation. They were through their hometown of Retroville when the family of 3 saw Natalie sobbing underneath the produce store's auning and pulled over to a stop to get a closer look.

Inside the car, the wife of the family, Judy Neutron, looked over at the young girl and told her husband, Hugh, "Hugh, look over there! That poor girl needs help, and she's badly beaten! She also needs proper clothing!!"

Hugh looked at Natalie and commented, "You're right, sugar-booger! Let's help her out, shall we, Jimbo?" He looked in the back seat at his son when he finished speaking.

His son, Jimmy, looked out of the window to his right and nodded, saying, "Of course, Dad! Why shouldn't we??" With that, he opened the back door of the car and rushed over to her, along with Judy, and lifted her chin up with his finger and asked, "Excuse me, but I couldn't help but notice how much you were in agony! Could my mom and I assist you in any way?"

"Yes, sweetie, is there anything we can do to help?" Judy added in agreement, helping Natalie to her feet.

Since she hadn't had anyone be so kind to her in SO long, she burst into tears again and embraced Judy in a hug as Jimmy picked up her battered suitcase for her, even though, to Natalie, she was a complete stranger.

"Honey, whatever is wrong? And what's your name?" Judy wanted to know, putting one of Natalie's auburn shoulder-length locks behind her ear.

"F-First of a-all, m-my n-n-name's N-Natalie Steppe. And second of all, the reason I'm so grateful to see you is because you're the first people to be kind to me in YEARS!" she explained in a shaky voice.

"Oh, really? And why is that?" Jimmy kindly asked.

"It's because I have a highly abusive and drunken mother who abuses me and uses abusive language on a daily basis, and she's done it for as long as I can remember! And the reason I'm here is because I finally had the nerve to run away from right under her nose, in pursuit of a kinder, nicer family who will take me under their wings," Natalie informed them with a hopeful look on her tear-streaked face.

Judy caught her hopeful look and kindly asked, "Natalie, would you like to live with us?"

"Yes, but on one condition: you both tell me your names, please!" Natalie offered.

"I'm Judy Neutron," Judy introduced herself.

"And I'm her son, Jimmy Neutron," he added, helping her to the back seat of the car in spite of the pouring rain.

"Delighted to meet you! And who's your husband, Judy?" Natalie wanted to know.

Hugh looked at her from the rearview mirror where the roof of the car met the top of the windshield and said, "I'm Hugh. Nice to meet you!"

"You too, Mr. Neutron!" she said, buckling up.

"Oh, and Jimmy?" Judy added, looking back at him from the front seat, "You did remember her suitcase, didn't you?"

"Yeah, Mom, I did. Natalie has it in her lap," he informed her.

"Great! And welcome to the Neutron family, Natalie!" Judy welcomed her as they drove off to their home in the Retroville suburbs, which took about 10 minutes.

When they arrived, they hurried inside the house, for it was still pouring rain outside.

"Goddard, I'm home!" Jimmy hollered once he was inside, and Goddard came bounding up to him, jumped up on him, and licked his face until he told him to stop.

"So this must be Goddard, right, Jimmy?" Natalie asked.

"Yup!" he confidently replied with a proud look on his face, "Built him myself!"

Then he faced Goddard and told him, "Goddard, this is Natalie, boy! Say hello!"

He displayed his digital screen that said, "Hello, Natalie. Nice to meet you."

"Good boy!" Jimmy said, patting him on his head.

"So, wow! You constructed this cybernetic canine yourself?! Unbelievable!!" she exclaimed, blown away almost beyond words.

"Oh, that's nothing. You should see my lab!" he invited. Then he wanted to know, "Where would you like to stay, Natalie?"

"Oh, anywhere's fine, Jimmy! If you don't have a spare room, I'd be happy to share your room with you!" Natalie kindly replied.

"Okay," he agreed, and escorted her up to his room.

Once inside it, she was blown away almost beyond words, again. If she'd had her own room, she'd want it to look like what she witnessed that evening. She could tell that she was going to love living with Jimmy!

OMG!! This is GREAT!!

You wrote everything so well and portrayed the harsh reality of kids abused by thier parents.

Very funny about that... My story is gonna "somewhat" be like that, except more metaphorical

Chapter 2: Meeting the Gang
(Jimmy's POV)


That night, Natalie spent her first night at our house as a member of our family. Well, not officially, yet, because Mom still had to fill out the adoption forms and gain legal authority over her as a parent. The extraordinary thing was that, these days, you could do all that online! The wonders of technology are astounding!

The following morning, after we all had breakfast, Mom went to the local adoption center to fill out a form online. That way, Natalie would officially be called my sister! How awesome is that?!

While she did that, I took the opportunity to introduce her to my friends, so I took her outside with Goddard not far from us and saw that Carl and Sheen were playing with Sheen's UltraLord and RoboFiend action figures and pretending to make them fight. When I saw that, I just chuckled lightly and rolled my eyes at them. Typical Carl and Sheen! I brought Natalie over to them and introduced her, saying, "Carl, Sheen, this is my new sister, Natalie."

They stopped what they were doing and Carl said, "I'm Carl Wheezer, Natalie."

"And I'm Sheen Estevez," Sheen added, then asked me, "Hey, Jimmy, how'd you get a new sister overnight??"

"Yeah," Carl agreed, "I've never seen her before."

"Well," I explained, "My parents and I were passing through town yesterday evening and we saw her sobbing under a produce store's auning, so, after we got out and talked with her a bit, she got in the car with us and we took her home with us. That good enough of an explanation for you guys?"

They just nodded their replies.

Then I heard a familiar, yet annoying, voice hollering at me. Oh, gas planet! I thought to myself, When did SHE get up and get permission to bug us?!

"Yo, Freak Brain! Who's your new friend??" Cindy asked rather rudely, or it was rude in my opinion, as she approached us with Libby at her side from across the street.

"For your information, Dork-tex, this isn't just my friend, she's my new sister, and her name's Natalie," I informed her, my arms folded.

"Nice to meet you, Natalie! I'm Cindy Vortex," she introduced herself.

"And I'm Libby Folfax," Libby added sweetly. Then she put in, "Ya know, when I saw the 2 o' y'all togetha', I thought for a sec she was your girlfriend, of all things!"

Cindy just glared at her with a look that seemed to say, "That was a LITTLE too much information than was needed, Libby!"

"Why would she be, when I've only known her less than 24 hours, Libby?!" I questioned her with a wary expression on my face.

"Sorry, Neutron, I didn't mean it like that!!!" she apologized.

"It's very nice to meet you, Cindy and Libby!" Natalie interjected.

Then Libby whispered something to Cindy, who nodded her reply. Then she asked me, "Uh, Neutron, could we borrow yo' sister for a little while?"

"Sure, I guess," I responded, then questioned her, "Do you mind, Natalie?"

"No, not at all!" she replied, and walked over to the 2 girls, who escorted her to Libby's house across the street.

"What do you think they'll do to her?" Sheen wanted to know.

"I'm not sure, to be completely honest with you, Sheen," I said with a shrug of my shoulders.

Hope For the Hopeless

Chapter 3: Natalie's Makeover
(Cindy's POV)


When we escorted Natalie into Libby's house, she asked uneasily, "Girls, what are you planning to do to me?"

"Trust me, Natalie! You're gonna LOVE it!" I reassured her, taking her with Libby to Libby's room upstairs.

When we got there, Libs shut the door behind us and announced, "Now, the real fun begins! Cin, go get my make-up kit, please!"

"Which one?" I questioned, because she had at least 2 that I knew of.

"The violet one, which is the biggest one," she answered me, pointing to the middle of the center shelf she stored her make-up on.

I retrieved it and brought it to her.

"Thanks, Cin!" she told me, and opened it at the touch of a button.

Natalie took one look at it and was amazed at the wide variety of cosmetics that were displayed in front of her.

Then I instructed her, "Natalie, go take a seat in Libby's inflatable purple chair over there, please!"

She did as I instructed her, then wanted to know, "Now what?"

"Now, we're gonna turn ya from drab to totally FAB!" Libby exclaimed, then said to her, "Just relax and let us do the work for ya."

"Okay, Libby. I'm in your hands," Natalie replied, and shut her eyes.

With that, we turned her complexion from drab to fab in just under 20 minutes.

"Okay, we're done!" I announced, and led her to Libby's full-length mirror on her bedroom door. Then I added, "Now, open your eyes..."

She opened them and gasped at how marvelous she looked. Her complexion was transformed from dull to dazzling with the brilliant use of cosmetics, and her hair was neatly combed and put into a cute ponytail.

"Now that your hair and make-up's done, let's turn our attention to your wardrobe, shall we?" I suggested, leading her to Libby's closet after putting her make-up kit away. When Libby opened the closet door, Natalie was practically speechless at the huge array of clothes before her.

"Go ahead," Libby invited, "Choose whatever outfit you like!"

She chose a pink halter-top with a decorative, magenta, sequinned mini-jacket that was only designed for looks, mainly because it was flimsy and short-sleeved, but totally cute, and a knee-length, denim pencil skirt that had glitter along the bottom hem of it. For shoes, she chose lavender, open-toe, wedge clogs that had violet rhinestones adorning the entirety of the top strap.

We had also decorated Natalie's nails, hands and feet, with a glittery pink nail polish.

"Now that we're finished with ya, why don't ya go check yo'self out in my full-length mirror?" Libby informed her.

When she did, she looked at herself from head to toe for a second or 2, then embraced both of us in a hug, saying, "Thank you girls so much! I don't think I've looked this good in my entire life!!!"

Libby and I hugged her back and I replied, "It was our pleasure, Natalie!"

Then Libby had a thought. "Why don't you show yo' new bro how good ya look?? I'm sure he'll love it!"

"Oh, you mean Jimmy? Sure, I can do that!" Natalie exclaimed, heading back outside and back across the street with Libs and I following her close behind.

I thought the girls were gonna do something bad to her, but that was very nice, remaking Nat into a prettier, more confident self.

Chapter 4: The Accident
(Libby's POV)

When we'd brought Natalie back across the street to show the guys, we saw that, at first, they were engaged in an animated conversation about RetroLand & the rides there. Boys will be boys, I thought to myself, walked up to Jimmy, & tapped him on his shoulder.

"Just a minute, Carl," he said to me, "I'm talking with Sheen about RetroLand's rides."

"What are you talking about, Jim? I'm over here!" Carl told him with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Well, then if you're over there, then who's-?" Jimmy started to ask, but I interrupted him.

"A-hem!" I put in, clearing my throat with my hands on my hips, "I'm right behind ya, Neutron!"

Surprised, he spun around so quickly that we almost touched noses, but then he backed away when he realized it was me. "Can I help you, Libby??" he warily asked of me.

"Neutron, we have a little surprise fo' ya! Are ya ready, Cin?" I questioned my friend, who happened to be, obviously, standing right next to me.

"Ready!" she replied, & we separated & showed him who was standing behind us, which was Natalie.

Jimmy took one look at her & gasped at her sudden transformation from abused preteen to queen of bling. It took him a minute or 2 to get used to her new look & speak up about it, saying, "Wow, Natalie! You look... AMAZING!!! Cindy, Libby, you did all this to her within 20 minutes?!"

"It wasn't hard. We just let her choose what she preferred to wear, & the rest was a piece of cake!" Cindy informed him.

"Well, all I can say is that, Natalie, you look absolutely fantastic!!" he complimented her.

She HAD to blush at that statement, as I'm pretty sure she felt very flattered. Then she finally said, "Thanks, Jimmy! That was very sweet of you to say!"

My heart was touched when I heard her say that, & I couldn't help but feel happy for her. Cindy, on the other hand, seemed to be a bit jealous, because I saw her scowl & look away. I'm pretty sure she was thinking, Oh, please! I'm WAY prettier than that wanna-be!

Then she suddenly pulled me aside, well out of their hearing range, & snapped, "Did you see how she was going ga-ga over him?! I mean, she barely even knows him! I'm not about to let her drool all over my hunk-muffin!!"

I couldn't help but giggle lightly when I heard that! "Cindy, did you just say hunk-muffin?!! Is THAT what you just called Neutron??!" I managed to ask between giggles.

"Yeah, you heard me!" she informed me, bringing me back to the group, "Neutron's my hunk-muffin!! You got a problem with that??!"

I could tell Jimmy was a bit shocked when he heard her say that last bit of info, because he blushed a deep crimson & suspiciously questioned, "Vortex, did you just say what I think you just said?!"

"I- I- I- uh...," Cindy stammered, clearly embarrassed, "You see, er, I- um, it's just that- uh... Heh, heh, uh, yeah, I, uh, guess I did say, um, that! Heh, heh!"

"Well, I really don't know what to say about this...," he muttered aloud.

Then her anger took over as she barked at him, "Yeah, well, I DO know what to say about it! I demand that you make me a potion that makes me prettier than Natalie! Or else, I'll clock you to the next century!! Are we clear on that?!!"

"Gee, well, uh, this is unexpected! Vortex, I-," he started to say, but she didn't let him finish.

She pushed him aside & marched over to his lab's entrance, saying, "Outta my way, Jerk-tron! I'll do it myself!!"

Jimmy rushed after her & nervously informed her, "Vortex, you've no knowledge of how to create the chemicals necessary to formulate such a potion! Let ME do it!"

She just ignored him as she pulled one of his hairs out & held it up to the DNA-scanner. It accepted it, & she marched inside. Everyone else, including me, followed the 2 of them inside. "Well, Cindy, ya don't know the code to get in, so you're gonna have to let Neutron do it himself!" I pointed out.

Jimmy hastily punched in the code that opened up a portal that let us into his lab with a thud on the concrete floor.

Once she righted herself, she stomped over to his table of chemicals & began mixing them before he could stop her. He rushed over to her & pushed her aside, demanding, "Just let ME do this!"

That's all I heard him say, because Sheen started to wander around the lab & act like he was gonna push random buttons that could send us on a perilous adventure. His hand was just about to push a large red button when I intervened & stopped him in just the nick of time, saying firmly, "Sheen, when will you learn to stop pushing random buttons without learning what they do?!"

"Well, excuse ME for being bored!!" he snapped at me.

That was when I suddenly heard glass shatter & a loud groan that originated from Jimmy. I turned to face their direction & saw that Cindy was drenched with a weird combination of chemicals. To make matters worse, the concoction drenched him, as well!

"What in Greystar's name is goin' on here?!" I practically yelled at them, "Were they fighting again, Carl?"

He nodded his reply.

I just groaned & protested, "When will you 2 learn to stop arguin'?!!"

"Beats me," Sheen admitted with a shrug of his shoulders.

"Now we're drenched in this chemical combination, Dork-tex, without any clue as to what it will do to us!!!" Jimmy hissed at Cindy.

"You know, girl, it WAS ultimately yo' big mouth that got us into this mess!" I informed her, highly annoyed.

"You're right, Libs," she sighed, "NOW what are we gonna do??"


There it is! These chapters will come MUCH faster now that I have them saved on a portable flash drive made to look like a wristband! I can GUARANTEE it!!! :thumbsup:
