Should SpongeBob SquarePants End?

...Should SpongeBob step down from his throne and end his reign or will he continue?
April 1999-While Pokemon was still the biggest thing there is, the Y2K Bug caused paranoia among the masses, and The 20th Century was about set for good. Nickelodeon was preparing to launch a new series to compete with Pokemon on Saturday mornings. Rugrats had ran its course after the big revival of 1997, most of the other Nicktoons did ok at best, but not as popular as the mentioned show. So in April of that year, Nick unleashed SpongeBob Squarepants. And to much surprise, it beat Pokemon in the ratings!
Since then, the Sponge has enjoyed popularity, even eclipsing Rugrats' popularity! There was a movie, countless toys, food products, and even a balloon at The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade! As his popularity soared like a seahawk, other shows tried to reach the same success with little to no effect. People started to become angry with SpongeBob's popularity, because he's getting more seasons and such. While others tend to say he still has it.
My question to all of you is, Is The Sponge Getting Stale and Annoying? To quote the tagline of the Kenner Super Powers Collection toy line- "You Decide."

But as a huge JN fan, I completly detest Spongebob's popularity!! If Nick can keep him and Fairly Oddparents on for quite a long time, then why did they take away JN?!? :angrymob: :angrymob: :angrymob:
Spongebob's had it for far too long! :protest:

So basically, I think that Spongebob has become the biggest commercialized name in Nick, so they don't want to get rid of him. That would only lighten their wallets.
I think that that the only thing that can truly make everyone understand this is if I could remember the name of the Spongebob episode where Mr. Krabs sold out Spongebob's name as a Krusty Krab gimmic. If you know that episode, you know what I'm talking about.

Okay, let's go with the analysis.
SpongeBob lines the wallets of the fat cats of Nickelodeon, not to mention is a huge selling point for merchandise. But I do believe that, as Beks so nicely put it, SpongeBob has grown too big for his square britches. Also, since the release of the Spongebob movie in theaters, I personally have noticed dramatic changes in the characters/themes of the show. There seems to be more suggestive elements written into the scripts. A rumor flew about that there was an episode only aired once late at night that featured SpongeBob and Patrick get married.
Do I think he should pack his little yellow square butt into a wooden crate and GTFO? Yes. But will it happen? Not unless some scandal occurs that makes it unairable, no. The fact that it sits atop the much sought-after #1 Most Popular Show pedestal is the only reason Nickelodeon continues to sign the contract for another season year after year, like the mindless zombies that they are.
If you are going  over the "suggestive elements", take, for example, this dialogue from the SB movie:
SPONGEBOB: Mindy? What are you doing here?
PATRICK: Did you see my underwear?
MINDY: *dully* No, Patrick.
PATRICK: Did you want to?
While it's written for the smitten starfish Patrick, this could and should be viewed by the FCC as inappropriate, and children shouldn't be mimicing such behavior.
:bath: Ah, that was relaxing to get it out of my system.

It was never a good show to begin with, and its way too popular. It doesn't deserve freaking anything.

While I can't say anything about the quality of the show, (in terms of actual episodes & such) seeing as I've never laid eyes on it for more than two minutes to see just WHAT all the fuss was about, I can't resist in agreeing 1,000% & then some as far as the popularity is concerned!SPONGEBOB NEEDS TO DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH.

Nope, since I'm sure that at least after the first three or so, better shows have DEFINITELY come along. Sure, its probably got SOME good quality to it in earlier episodes (like with any show), but I CAN'T see why people just completely REFUSE to vote for any other show in the Nick choice awards (& trust me, I'm aware that the vast majority of voters consist of both thousands of little kids who'd rather chunck their TVs out the window than not vote for SB, & there's the group in ages from 15-onward who've just had it as one of their top faves for so long that it probably doesn't seem right for em to vote on anything else, (& I do know the feeling, if Boomerang had similar award shows I'd vote for Top Cat EVERY TIME) but really...
Don't these other shows have at least SOME right to get a much more fair chance at that coveted # 1 show spot? I don't think I've EVER heard of another cartoon beating SB in the choice awards, even once!
Trust me, I MORE than whole heartedly agree that the Sponge (I can barely even say its full name any more, seeing as although not as much because its not a central for the series, I do know exactly what Beks meant about the store she mentioned...) I can NOT walk into any store in any area I go to without at least seeing SOMETHING featuring that sponge.. Do you have ANY idea how annoying that is?!?!?! :grr:
& WHAT...? It was intended to be Nick's competion for Pokemon? My SECOND TOP FAVE?? ................. GAH. :grr: :o :grr: :grr:
Beks? Feel free to let me join you in that pranking, my friend ;)
