Thanks, Katie, dear!

Yeah...that Sensei is something else...

I think I'm gonna post the next chapter now, cause I have it written and all, and I don't want to procrastinate putting it up like I know I will.

STAY TUUUUUNED~

Neutron Knight Origins

Lady Gwendolyn

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Gwendolyn picked a leaf off a pile and threw it in an overly large glass container on the dresser.

“Happy Anniversary, Stanley. It’s been exactly five years since we met.”

The king cobra hissed in response, chewing on the leaf. The Sensei didn’t really approve of the larger-than-him reptile, but he knew Stanley was important to Gwendolyn and let her keep it.

“Five long, hard, painful years,” she sighed, lying down on her bed. “I mean, it’s cool to be taught jutsu and how to use a katana, but where do I need it in the modern world? Yeah, the war and all…but as if I’d ever go to a battlefield.”

Sitting up, she pulled a piece of leaf off his fang and fed it to him. “Plus it’s not really fair I didn’t have a choice in the matter. I just sort of stumbled across this place and was just sort of forced into this. Just…sort of…”

One of Gwendolyn’s flashbacks was about to occur. She could tell by the goosebumps’ arrival and the hairs on her neck standing up.

“W-who are you?”

“I am not allowed to disclose that information. What I am allowed to disclose will change your life forever…”

Stanley’s head perked up and he watched as a familiar vacant stare crossed his owner’s face.

“Look, I don’t need fancy gypsy talk. I just need a place for me and my snake to stay for the night.”

“For the night…or longer.”

“What?”

The serving maid entered the room, but waited patiently for Gwendolyn to return to consciousness. Unlike the first time this happened, when she completely lost it.

“Look, sir, can I just stay here for the night? I’ve got nowhere else to go—”

“Insolence. We shall cure you of that.”

His subdued laugh pierced the twilight. Suddenly, however, as he advanced toward me, an unknown force knocked him to the ground, out cold.

“Come with me.”

“I—”

“It’s not safe! Come with me!”

The unknown force turned out to be an old man, all but his snow-white hair unmarred by time.

Out of curiosity, I followed him. Would I have if I’d known my fate today?

Gwendolyn slowly regained control of her eyesight. As she shook off the feeling, the serving maid coughed, making aware her presence.

“Oh, hello. Yes?”

The maid was an African-American woman who seemed about ten years older than her mistress. She wore a simple orange dress with wooden sandals. Her hair was normally tied back in a bun, but today it was loose, frizzing all around her head.

She bowed. “The Sensei would like to see you first thing in the morning. He said something about it being time.”

“Time for what?”

“I don’t know, ma’am.”

Gwendolyn dismissed her, put a blanket over the top of Stanley’s cage, and got into bed.

What could it possibly be time for? Knowing the Sensei, probably time to buy a new brand of oolong.

Smirking at her underappreciated wit, she drifted off into sleep.

@Katie: I know! I'm having a heck of an awesome time writing this. If it makes you feel any better, I have no idea where I'm going with anything. Things just sort of happen.

@Ringo: Hee, thanks!

That's kinda the same way I'm writing mine. I just sit down and write each part in the space of half an hour. I'm starting to form some ideas for what'll happen next, but I'm not worrying about planning stuff. I think these stories turn out better when you just wing it.

Right, exactly!

I know where I want the story to end up, sort of, but I have no idea how I'm gonna get there in the mean time.

Woohoo!

I just finished writing the story.

Like, just just.

I think there's three chapters left, but the last two are quite long.

SO, I SHALL POST ANOTHER CHAPTER--or two since the next one is short--TOMORROW.

Amazing, Gwen. AND amazingly written.

Dramatic beginning. It almost made me want to cry, about your family history (well, you're character's, LOL) and how you got started. How you were affected by your sister's death, it was beautifully described and written.

Haha, the Sensei amde me giggle, too. He does seem a little lke an absent-minded professor. But caring and intelligent at what he does. And you have a maiden and everything.
I enjoyed the flashback and imagining it a great deal. It really fills you in on how you got started in all of this gradually. Seems like there's been a lot of hurt. And a mysterious past.
Sorta reminds me of the monks of Shangri Llama in TOSOT. Wow. You're good.

Its time. Oh, boy. Haha. J/K But I'm VERY curious of what that is, and its obviously something he's known all along in helping you. Something that'll change your life. Now I'm all anxious. I hate these cliffhangers! AAHH! You're just as bad as Mara, Beks, Rach, and the rest of them! J/K LOL

Ooh, and of course I love about how you got your snake, Stanely. Aww. Your first friend/pet. I like it.

Yay! Can't wait to read more tomorrow then.
Thanks for this, and way to go, Lady Gwendolyn. This is a very good one. Can't wait to see.
And, thanks for telling me about it! Who cares about shamelss promotion?! Not us. LOL Go about shameful promotion! Haha ^_^ :P

Alright, sorry.

See you soon.
Your Friend and fellow NK

I was hoping to get that reaction. I tend to write a bit...vaguely.

LOL, oh no! I'm becoming Mara! AHHH. --screams in terror--

This is obnoxiously short, so you guys can have another chapter too.

Neutron Knight Origins

Lady Gwendolyn

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“You wanted to see me, Sensei?”

Gwendolyn bowed as she entered the room. Her teacher was sitting cross-legged on the floor, hunched over a crossword puzzle.

“Tell me, my pupil. What is another five-letter word for ‘lunacy’?”

She blinked, straightened, and struggled to keep her poker face as the answer passed through her head. “I’m not sure, Sensei. But please, tell me why I have come.”

He stared at her in confusion, as if trying to remember himself. “Ah, yes. Sit down, have some tea.”

“Oh, no thank you,” said Gwendolyn, sitting on a mat across from the instructor.

“As you know, it has been five years since you came to be with us. This is not easy for any of us, but it must be done. You are ready.”

“For what, sir?”

He stood up. His student followed his actions in respect.

“There comes a time in life—several times in life—where the pathway of your existence takes a violent turn to the left.”

Gwendolyn stood where she was as he walked around the puzzle and the mats, and stood behind her.

“These turns can be unprecedented, unimaginable, and simply unwanted.”

With that, he pinched a nerve on her shoulder, and all went black.

Neutron Knight Origins

Lady Gwendolyn

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Groaning, Gwendolyn sat up. Her head hurt like heck and she wasn’t quite sure what had happened.

Looking around the room, there was a television going, playing SpongeBob. The teenager grinned in spite of her situation. That was always her favorite show.

There was also a desk, upon which that television was placed, that also held various books and a lamp for reading light.

She sat on a cot-type fixture. Not quite a bed, but big enough to sleep on. Over the cot was placed blank purple sheets, and on a bedside table sat Stanley’s cage, quite precariously perched. In horror, Gwendolyn jumped up, grabbed hold of it, and painstakingly put it on the floor. Then she let him out to scope his surroundings.

As he felt the area with his tongue, the door opened, and in came a girl, dressed in all blue, random spots of silver glimmering here and there. Gwendolyn’s eyebrows rose as she took in the silver atom symbol on her chest, and the spikes on her boots.

“Hey there. Glad to see you’re up—Oh my word!”

She jumped back, Stanley slithering over to her and sensing her with his tongue.

“Don’t worry,” Gwendolyn laughed. “He’s a herbivore.”

Her kind blue eyes warily watched him as he lost interest in her and continued around the room.

“Okay…well, anyway. My name is Spike, and as I’ve seen you notice, I’m a Neutron Knight.”

“Elusive. I’ve only heard stories about you guys, in what seems like a million years ago.”

“Yes, we’re pretty good at spy work,” Spike said, proudly. “Gwendolyn, we’d like you to join our force.”

She blinked then replied intelligently, “What?”

“The Neutron Knights have decided to let you join our force.”

“Porquoi?”

“You know your Sensei?”

“No, I don’t,” Gwendolyn replied, sarcastically.

Spike rolled her eyes. “Well, he’s the grandson of Master Hong. You know, Master Sheen’s teacher?”

The teen’s face contorted with shock. “Seriously?”

“Yep. We enlisted him to raise a new member of the Neutron Knights, skilled in the art of swords, in five years. You, my friend, are that enlistment.”

“Do I have a choice?”

“Your choice was made five years ago when you decided to follow the Sensei into Shangri Llama.”

“Shangri Llama? We weren’t even out of IDOJstershire!”

“How little you know,” she observed, much to Gwendolyn’s annoyance. “Time is relative.”

“Care to elaborate?”

“I guess, put in simple terms, the Sensei basically teleported the two of you there. It goes way deeper than that, but that’s pretty much the bottom line.”

“I see…so…do I have to go through a training session?”

“Oh, yes.” Spike started counting on her fingers. “You have to do a training session, you have to make or buy an outfit, you have to think up a way to incorporate the atom into it, you have to be knighted by Queen Mara…it’ll take a couple months.”

“Well, it’s not like I have anywhere else to go. Sign me up.”

“Sweet. Here, I’ll get you a temporary outfit—aren’t those kimonos uncomfortable?—and we’ll get you to Writer Woman for training. I’ll be right back.”

Spike smiled encouragingly at Gwendolyn, and as they locked eyes, the doubt she felt dissipated. She knew that the older Neutron Knight believed in her.

This is very intriguing and interesting. I like how you can put it as a life of a secret organization and make it sound real.
