I know, I know, you can't even contain your excitement over the new Roleplaying forum. :dance: I feel ya.

But before you strap on your Limited Edition Ultralord mask and jump into position as Sheen Estevez, you should be aware of a few rules that go along with the AMAZING coolness of RPing. And if you think you already know the "unwritten" rules...well, these are the written ones, and it took me forever to write them, so you'd better read them. Who knows? You might learn something. :o Shocking, I know.

OK, so, here we go. :bunny:

TOPIC SETUP <= READ THIS :thumbsup:

-Topics will be arranged on basis of SETTING. For those of you who don't know what a setting is, I suggest you either repeat your basic literature class next year or go to the school board and demand your money back. The RP Setting must have something to do with the actual show. For example, a good one to choose would be "The Candy Bar".

-Topic Titles will read like this "RP: setting goes here". In the case of the Candy bar, the topic title would say "RP: The Candy Bar". Make sense?

-Setting cannot be repeated. You can create as many new settings as you want, but there can only be one "Candy Bar" RP going at any one given time. Mmkay? ^_^ Do you get the whole "setting" concept? Basically, it's just a way to organize a buttload of different RPing sessions into categories that make sense. That way, one group of people can RP as the gang in Ms. Fowl's classroom, and another group entirely can ALSO be the gang and carry on a different RP at Shangri Llama.

ROLEPLAYING AS CHARACTERS

-The basic concept of RPing is this: You pretend to be your favorite character and do your best to sound and act like them. That means that you STAY IN CHARACTER. I know the tempation is just OVERWHELMING to spontaneously make Cindy and Jimmy start kissing right in the middle of an RP, but would this really happen in an episode? Stay true to the show and your character, or else GO AWAY. ;)

-You can only be one character at a time in each setting. If you go on to the "Candy Bar RP" and there's already a Cindy in the Candy Bar, you CAN'T be Cindy unless that person quits and gives you permission to take over. Likewise, you can't sign on to an RP and play both Libby and Sheen. You can pick one or the other, but not both.

-Character assignment is based on a first come, first serve basis. If you're the first person in the "Candy Bar" RP to reply and say "I'm Jimmy", then you've got the job. All other subsequent claims to being Jimmy will be deleted by ME. o:) However, if you're Jimmy at the Candy Bar, that doesn't automatically make you Jimmy everywhere else. There might be another Jimmy entirely on the "Shangri Llama RP".

AVAILABLE CHARACTERS

-You can be any character that has been on the show

-NO ORIGINAL CHARACTERS ALLOWED! Sorry, you can't RP as Sheen and Libby's kids or as yourself or as any other person who hasn't been mentioned or shown on the TV show. I may reconsider this rule and create a special RP just for OC's if everyone behaves and stays in character the rest of the time. :ahoy:

COMMON COURTESY

-I was gonna leave out the basic rules, but then I realized that if I don't spell everything out then INEVITABLY someone will do something stupid. Anyway, here we go:

-No flaming :onfire: (Duh)

-No excessive swearing :uhoh:

-No dirty romance. :nosebleed: This is NOT a porn site people JEEZ

SUMMARY (for those of us with ADHD :huh: LOL)

-Topics are organized by setting
-One RP for each setting
-One copy of each character per RP session
-One character per person per RP session (phew lots of "pers")
-Stay in character, and no OC's
-Nothing obscene...Behave yourself *.*

OK, I think that's pretty much it. I'm gonna start out a few generic RP's and then we'll see how it goes. If people can't manage to control themselves then big bad Moderator Mara might have to come out and delete the RP forum :'(

I know this is probably one of the unwritten rules, but may I suggest NO character bashing of any kind?

This would include, if someone (most likely myself) were to start roleplaying as Betty or Nick, then any other forum members shouldn't be able to say stuff like "why'd BETTY have to be included, I HATE her!" or anything similar.

If a member wants Betty involved, then everyone else would have to let them, & respect the character through the ENTIRE game, not just for a short time.

If anyone must bash/flame a character, they should, in my opinion, do so in the flaming characters topic, & NO where else on this board for that matter.

Questions:

Also, if anyone has an idea for a pairing other than the everyday, mainstream couples, (such as JimmyxBetty) & wish that JxB (for example) remains the actual Jimmy pairing throughout the game, would you allow that?

I know, the usual idea is for the story to go along as the players want, (provided the events stay true to the show) but as long as you make a special note in the description sentance, & note this in the setting, then should this be allowed?

Finally, I've heard of RPs that are based on actual fanfictions, or sometimes an AU version of the show, but the general personalities & everything of the characters stay the same, then would this be ok?

Because I've found, through actually role playing my characters, (real & OC) that I could really make better progress via roleplaying the characters out on a place like this, & then using the archived roleplay, once its done, to write out the story in mind.

But of course, if I do so, then I'll most certainly credit EACH & EVERY person that I roleplayed with for their part. :)

This, if you allow it Mara, might help along my fanfictions more so than anything, because I roleplay 100 times better than I write, but if this isn't allowed, & we're only allowed to use mainstream couples & not even re-do certain episodes in the setting of the places other characters are at, at the time, then while I certainly won't be disappointed, (I'm not like that) I'll probably take forever to do it though.

But I'm just making a few suggestions, & just curious, because through IMs like Yahoo, MSN & AIM, (my most effective IM rps) I've always been better with thinking things through, & even being more creative than originally. :)


P.S.~ Another idea to think about might be a 'Next Generation' RP section, wherein you could RP as any couple's kids, such as Sheen&Libby's, or any Jimmy pairing.

I like your suggestions, but for now the whole RP thing is still on a "trial" basis, so I'm not gonna make any changes or create any "special" RP's until I am 100% convinced that people can handle themselves. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Ok, sounds good to me. & since I'm pretty much convinced that every JN RP during the trial basis will center around JxC as the main focused on Jimmy pairing, I'll just set back, watch, & stay out of it.

Unless of course there really is a basic RP with no love interaction whatsoever, but just the normal type of RP/episode thing. If that happens, I'll likely join as Betty, but otherwise, I'll just set back & watch. :)

Yeah, me too, me too. I'm always like zzzz... when it comes to long posts, like some of NekoGirl's (Love ya anyway! :treehugger: [that's a tree... @_@]) and (heaven forbid) Mara's, but I try anyway!!! It may tae me a few dozen hours but that's okay!!!

Anyway, enough about my personal problems. You all are probably like :grr: Get on with it!!! :grr: so I will!!!

I think this sounds really fun and I can't wait to start my journey through the RP boards!!!!

Gee, thanks. <_< Nah, that's 'K, I know what you mean. Sometimes I bore myself when I have to write out all these ridiculously long rules. It's just...if I don't spell them out, 9 times out of 10 somebody will do something incredibly dumb :D

After seeing a multitude of new RP's with names like "Hannah Montana" or "Miley Cyprus", I think I need to clarify something. These characters are NOT from the show, and therefore need to be kept to the original character RP. Or, if that doesn't work, I can create an RP where characters from OTHER shows are allowed. Hmmm...

Hey, Mara. Wow, I'm waking up an old topic, aren't I? :blink: Sorry, didn't mean to. Well, not exactly.

Get ya on the whole "No original characters allowed" thing, trust me. But, I was just reading the hilarious "TOSOT Q & A" last night. Man, do I wish I was reading the story when that was open, it looked like so much fun. Anywho. I noticed that was under the Roleplaying forum. Well, I know you said no made up characters who haven't been on the show, but you gave me a fun idea to do something similar. Once my fic finally gets posted :rolleyes: on here I thought I might start a little Mega and Hope Q & A/interview type thing like you did. Not trying to steal your thunder on idea or anything, just that I love that sort of thing and it might be fun *shrugs* But, true they still are my original characters.

Probably the only reason you were able to use your original characters from TOSOT (Aurora, DJ, April, Nav, etc...) was cause you can bend the rules a little. You do run the place, after all. Understand.
So, I was wondering if that was allowed, basically. It's okay if its not, but I just thought I'd be fun (Ooh, did I say that already? :unsure: *brick'd*) Sorry. Totally understand.

Wouldn't technically be a roleplaying session, but still since I read that rule I thought I better ask first. Is that okay?

Ya, I don't think that topic was originally in the Roleplaying forum, but I moved it there because I didn't know where else to put it.

Don't worry about the rules...those were posted when I first created the forum and was worried that people would go a little crazy. They have since been revised - you CAN use original characters now, but they still have to pertain to the JN universe.

Otherwise just put it in creative works or sheer randomness.

Look, I know I'm a girl, but I call the role of Jimmy, mainly b/c he's smart-, no- A GENIUS, cute (*blushes* <3 ), funny, &, not to mention, TALENTED!!!!! He's my fave character, & I don't see why I couldn't be him in RP! So, is that okay???
If so, here goes!

The scene's at the Candy Bar, & Cindy just made a rude comment about Goddard (never mind exactly WHAT she said). Jimmy gasps angrily & snaps, "Dork-tex, you BETTER not say anything else like that, or you'll make me use THIS!!!" He brings out his Brain Drain helmet from behind his back & activates it.

How's that? The person who wants to be Cindy better speak up & claim the role, 'cause someone else might take it before you do! :o If you speak up before June 26, I'll make you my next posting buddy! ;) AND, for the role-player of Cindy only, you can help me w/ writing my fanfic on this site! You KNOW you want to!!! :dance:

Haha, I like your summary for those who suffer from (or rather, fully enjoy) ADHD. xD

I just had this idea I thought I'd post, if you're open to it at any time in the future.

An RP that's set up like a 'Who's line is it anyway' show (Like the scene from a hat skits). People submit scene/circumstance ideas, certain ones are picked, characters are assigned randomly to people, and an impromptu RP takes place that usually ends up being quite comedic.
