First the riddle. Then, after a few days, the answer.
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down
What is it?
Bonus point: This is a famous riddle from a famous work of fiction.
-If you know where its from, you win a fabulous pat on the back.

Darn!! Hahaha, That's a way better guess then mine...The answer is time! and it's from Bilbo and Gollum's riddle smack-down in The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. Right?
Mine was going to be "Anti-Matter!" .... It does EVERYTHING you want it to there. Just, I wouldent know who would make up such a weird riddle... :blink:
oops... :unsure:

Good going gummiworld. I'll probably do a few more Bilbo riddles before long.
-Here's your complimentary pat on the back: Pat on the back.
AlteredEgos, for anti-matter you get a consolation prize.
-Another pat on the back: Pat on the back.
Another riddle:
Runs all day but never walks, often murmurs but never talks,
Has a bed but never sleeps, has a mouth but never eats.
Cya!

Well, as they said, River is Right!
Good going gummiworld. Or is it Cami?
Here's another:
Four jolly men sat down to play;
And played all night till break of day;
They played for money and not for fun,
With separate scores for every one.
Yet when they came to square accounts,
They all had made quite fair amounts!
Can you the paradox explain?
If no one lost, how could all gain?
I rather like this one. I hope you do too!

Hmm.. I had a few Guesses... I luckily people playing music didnt do it for me.Either Cami or gummiworld works
Were they members of an orchestra hired to play at a dance or celebration.
I HAD Hockey Players, .. although they arent jolly, nor only 4 of them. ..they do the rest though.
Then I thought. "Oh Of Course!" Poker Players! ... they play all night.... ohh wait, they can LOSE money too. So, how do we gat around that? ... simple. Make sure its not THEIR Money they're playing with.
As in, 4 MOB Bosses playing poker! .... its PERFECT.
lol I'm probably wrong... but hey. I tried. :thumbsup:

-You be a Riddling Maniac! And I mean that as a compliment.
But I like your answer too, AlteredEgos. Mob bosses! Hee-hee.
Here's a lame joke riddle.
-Confidentally, I've never been fond of joke riddles, but I'll do some anyway.

Hm, I'm gonna run out of riddles.
I call these brainteaser riddles, though I'm not really sure if they're riddles or not.
What is the only thing you can put in a bucket to make it lighter?
