Jimmy backed up against his locker, terrified.
Denial
Cindy stared at the boy in disbelief.
Anger
Jimmy violently took out parts and slammed them on his desk in fury.
Hatred
Cindy suddenly exploded in black-colored hatred.
Despair
“Neutron, aren’t you done yet?” Cindy wailed.
Love
So. . . I’m in love with Neutron? Cindy thought.

Krista entered stage right and waved to the audience.
Chica
Chica entered stage left and hugged Rachel.
And Andrea. . .
Andrea stepped out from behind Rachel and rolled the standard fanfic drum.

“Oh, this is just fabulous,” Cindy muttered.
In the ten minutes it had taken to get from the Candy Bar to Jimmy Neutron’s house, the gray, cloudy sky had somehow transformed itself into a black, drenching thunderstorm.
“Tell me about it,” Jimmy moaned, fingering all the dead parts in his hover car. “I used up all my anti-electric shock motor pieces on the rocket; this thing’ll be junk in no time!”
Cindy pulled the ponytail-holder out of her bun and shook out her limp, frizzy hair.
“No, I mean, I just ironed my hair this morning!” Cindy groaned as she picked at another strand.
Jimmy stared in disbelief: Could Cindy Vortex, the girl he had had a crush on since the day he moved to Retroville, who loved science almost as much as he himself, be complaining about her hair when the vehicle she was sitting in was two seconds away from killing her? Looking up at the sky, Jimmy realized that the pattern of the lightning was headed straight for—
“Cindy! Look out!” Jimmy reached out and grabbed her sleeve (Mrs. Vortex had miraculously convinced Cindy to put on a sweatshirt before leaving), forcing her out of the hovercar nanoseconds before it was reduced to nothing. Cindy tumbled onto the muddy ground and said, “Thanks, Neutron.”
“No problem, I—”
“You got mud all over my new jacket! Did I mention it’s dry-clean only?”
Jimmy was surprised at first; he hadn’t realized that she had been sarcastic. Then he got mad.
“Oh yeah, you’re welcome for saving your life!” he shouted as he let Libby, Sheen, Carl, and himself into the lab. Cindy realized he was gone after a few seconds and banged on the clubhouse door.
“I know you’re in there, Neutron, you can’t fool me! Come on Libbs, make him let me in! I’m getting soaked out h—”
Jimmy, concentrating on finishing his latest experiment and whispering to Libby, Sheen, and Carl at the same time, absentmindedly pushed the red button under VOX. Cindy fell through the tubes and landed—hard—on the wooden floor.
“I’m okay!” Cindy reported, dusting herself off. Libby, Sheen, and Carl all rolled their eyes.
Cindy fumbled through her pockets and found a bottle of clear nail polish and a dry rubber band. Holding out the latter, she said, “Libby, braid my hair, will you?” and flounced on the nearest couch, polishing her nails. Libby irritably began a miniscule braid at the front of her head, instead of with all her hair, which was inevitably what Cindy had wanted. Cindy didn’t notice.
As the thunder inched it way closer and louder, Jimmy exclaimed, “Finally, I’m done!”
He held up a machine that looked something like a cross between a ray and a gun. Along one side of the pointer, however, was an entire rainbow of colors.
“Whoa, that’s so awesome!” Sheen complimented him.
“Really pretty,” Libby added.
“What does it do, Jim?” Carl asked curiously. Most of Jimmy’s experiments were tested on him and Carl was hoping that it wasn’t too painful-sounding.
“Ah, I’m glad you asked!” Jimmy said. “See, this is called the Rainbow 5000. You put your finger on a color over here, point, zap, and BAM!” Carl’s hair had suddenly gone from orange to purple.
“Then, when you press undo, it goes back to normal!” Jimmy demonstrated while he spoke.
Libby, Sheen, and even Carl burst out laughing; Jimmy looked proudly at his working invention; Cindy, however, snorted.
“Rainbow 5000? That sounds pretty lame to me!”
“Oh yeah?” said Jimmy defensively. “Well let’s see what you think when you’re. . . green!”
Cindy rolled her eyes, expecting the machine to blow up or something. She went back to painting her nails vainly. Jimmy pointed the ray at her, running his fingers over bright, emerald green. But of course, just as he pushed the button, a bolt of lightning hit the lab.
“And the adventure begins. . . now,” Sheen said.[/font]
