Let's try this again, shall we?

Alrighty, people. Once more, this is para roleplay. See? Big, bold letters. I repeat: PARA ROLEPLAY. That means we write, not type out a character's name, put a little colon next to it and then slap on some dialogue, no siree!

This topic is here to add a little refinement to the RP forums, to start the creation of some truly rememberable roleplays that'll be as fun to read as a fanfic.

Do not join this topic if any of the following apply to you:

1. You do not know how to decently para roleplay.

2. You will probably (or have the tendancy to) make your character act extremely unlike themselves.

3. You prefer script-style roleplay.

This particular topic's here for a reason--for good, nice, paragraph roleplay. There's literally hundreds of other topics that're just script-style, and if you don't like their plots there's always the New Topic button. So, I repeat again, if you don't like para roleplay or don't know how to do it, please, for the love of Pete and some other guys I don't know, don't join this particular topic! I'm not trying to be mean, I just don't want this topic to explode and frighten little children like the last one did! Break any of these rules and I'll set my army of caffeine-drunken ducks on you. They like to bite noses.

...Of course, if you're willing to learn, you can read a very brief synopsis of para-rp and how to get started right here.

Okay, now for everyone's favorite part: THE....uh, stuff. *scratches his head*

Oh, heck, here it is:

SETTING

Retroville. Anywhere. This is going to be done like an episode, and there can be multiple 'scenes' going on in different places so long as they all end up tied together somehow, or as long as the characters all wind up together somewhere. No excluding anyone! *wags his finger*

PLOT

For the last few months, random people in Retroville have been suffering from amnesia at different times. But it disappears after a few hours! The strange thing is, during these recurring blackouts, the victims can remember what they learned from their last amnesia attack--but the moment they're back to themselves, they forget all about it. What's the cause? Well, darn, I don't know, but that's what we've got an RP going on for!

CHARACTERS

(The usual first come, first serve. The cast'll only show the roleplayers and their characters, so if the character you want isn't on here, go ahead and call 'em.)

Carl - cynthia_aurora24
Sheen - .:!Gwen!:.
Libby - JimmySpaz
Cindy - Cindy_Auora
Jimmy - -Krista
Hugh - Me. :D

((Thank YOU Hugh! Um, I don't know who I'll RP. I want all of the smaller characters to have larger parts, yet I'm tempted to grab a larger role. Is that a bad thing?; *Knows she sounds like a hypocrite* ))

((Pfft, go ahead! It doesn't really matter. I just wanted a topic for people who'd LIKE to roleplay minor characters but can't 'cuz there's no room for them in any of the other topics. Take who you like, I've got no problem with it!))

(( Awesome! I'll just go ahead and steal Jimmy's spot. :D But if anyone REALLY wants Jimmy, I'm willing to give him up to take a smaller role. :bff: ))

((Okie dokie! I put you up there. I'm guessing we should wait for some more people to join before we start, but in the para I'm used to, people write huge posts and wait hours for the next one. Longer wait, more effort, but way higher quality!))

(( That sounds like a great idea! I think I'll just start now regardless. ^_^ I'll just put a random location up... ))

Jimmy Neutron's icy cold milkshake was placed with a small 'clunk' on his table, Sam sliding it to where Jimmy resided in the booth. Taking it with gratitude (for it was a hot, dry day in Retroville), he began sucking it down with the bendy straw sticking out from the glass cup. For the residents of Retroville, it was just another ordinary day during summer break. Jimmy had relapsed into a state where he could not find an idea for inventions, but he tried to make use of the time spared with his best buddies Carl and Sheen.

Newly hired waiteresses skated around in knee-length skirts, giggling and flirting with the boy customers that came and went (which was a good deal because the boys ended up fishing large tips from their wallets). He sighed with a sappy grin on his face as a waitress with a brown bob smiled and gave a friendly wave from behind the counter she was wiping down.

(( That's Betty, just for future reference. I'm hoping they'll be a bit older in this RP. Not much... maybe thirteen, fourteen. If you don't like the idea of them being older I'll gladly edit my post up a bit. :] ))

((Whoo! Time to blatantly embarra--I mean, uh, nevermind. And the idea of them being older's neat, so we'll leave it that way unless someone else strongly dislikes it.))

Jimmy wasn't the only Neutron at the Candy Bar--nope, not at all! With a vacant smile on his face, in walked Hugh, staring into space as he sometimes did. He paused in the doorway for a moment to survey the customers seated at their various tables and caught sight of Jimmy in no time. "Well, hey there, Jimbo!" he greeted him with a wave, the smile widening a bit. "Didn't know you'd be in here right now."

He made his way towards his son, weaving around tables, chairs and customers, and when he reached him he took a seat on the opposite side of the booth, quite oblivious to the fact that Jimmy probably wanted the seat saved for Sheen and Carl, whenever they came around. Then again, he was oblivious to just about everything.

"Sooo, whatcha doin'? Come up with any more of those... gizmo thingies?" he asked out of the blue. It was quite obvious that the man had nothing better to do.

(( ))

Jimmy, seeing his dad, began blushing a little. "Dad, I'm uh... I'm kind of busy right-" he started, but cut himself off when he saw Hugh's dumb smile and quirky demeanor. "Oh nevermind..." he mumbled, stealing another glance at Betty. There was a long, awkward pause (at lease for "Jimbo" ), before he finally answered his father's question. "My inventions haven't been going so well. I'm not getting any more ideas! I don't know what I'll do if I never get my spark back!" Jimmy rambled, ignoring the mocking voices from the background making 'quack' noises and imitating ducks.

Rubbing his head, Jimmy slowly stirred the milkshake with his straw and let his mind wander while waiting for the other Neutron's reply.

Hugh conveniently ignored the beginning of Jimmy's protest, and it was quite probable that even if the genius had finished it, it would've been ignored anyway.

"D'aw, you get new ideas all the time!" said the man, squinting in the direction of one of the aforementioned 'quack's to see if by off-chance there really was a duck in the Candy Bar. He was disappointed, of course, and his gaze returned to Jimmy within a second, although his goofy smile was replaced with a slight frown.

However, the grin did come back--Hugh never stayed offended for long. "Oh, don't worry, you'll get your spark back," he said confidently. A look of realisation came over his features for a moment before he sat up straighter and stuck a forefinger up in the air. "Oh, I know what you can do! You can work on something for all those strange... mental... blackout thingies that've been happening in town! It's nothing... serious, since everyone goes back to normal within an hour or two, but it's still funny, don'tcha think? I dunno, maybe it's perfectly normal. I get them all the time!"

As if to unintentionally emphasize his point, he stared into space again and his eye twitched. Normal for him, of course.

Jimmy backed away from his father for a second, mildly disturbed at the display of enthusiasm. Focusing his blue eyes on his father's large nose, he found something to stare at while his father continued babbling. At the mention of the mental blackouts Jimmy snapped out of his long glare and stared at his father's spectacles, light glinting off the glass every couple seconds. "Wait, did you just say... mental blackouts? What are you inferring, dad?"

Temporarily phased by the sudden dialogue from his son, Hugh twitched and then blinked at him, eyebrows raised. "Eh...what? Oh, the blackouts! Yeah, they've been happening all over! Jimbo, do you think I'm contagious? 'Cuz if I'm contagious other people will be able to join me in Random Happy Fun Land! It's where I go when I get bored with existing! Have you ever been there, son?" The last was obviously a deranged figment of the childish man's imagination.

Not quite waiting for a reply, though, he got back on topic to give the genius more of what he actually wanted to hear. "Anyway, people forget who they are, what they're doing, you know, typical science fictiony... stuff. And in a little while, they remember it all again but forget about anything they did when they had amnesia. It happened to me once, too, but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Other people do, though, so you probably want to make them happy or they'll start an angry mob or something. No one has a clue what it is, but I said, 'My Jimbo can fix this!' ...Then they ran after me with assorted heavy objects, yelling something about 'get that boy of yours to do something before we go insane or we'll kill you'. Sounds like a movie! Ever seen it?"

After hearing his father's deranged speech Jimmy quickly began sucking on his straw again (and quite hard). A brain freeze rang inside his skull be he ignored it by closing his eyes and slamming his head on the table, banging it a couple times before speaking. "Why me? Why did my father have to go promise an angry mob that I'd fix everything, why?" he muffled. Still being geniunely interested in the problem, Jimmy lifted his head and placed his chin into his palm, staring off into space and pondering the situation.

"Brain blackouts, huh? This is an interesting subject, particularly because it has become an epidemic, and amnesia is not supposed to happen unless stricken to the head (causing damage to the brain), or just having a malfunction..." Jimmy continued. Quizically he peered at his father. "Are you sure you're telling me this story correctly?"

Hugh blinked in surprise at the sudden and violent banging. "Now, son, what'd I tell you about never drinking cold drinks too fast? And be careful, you could bruise the poor table! ...Or your head."

He paused while Jimmy mumbled to himself, and caught a little of what was said. "Well, if you can't fix it, who can? For all we know, these attacks might get worse and worse and longer and longer until there's nothing left of anyone but mindless... things. And we all know you've saved the town from much worse situations!"

He looked at the boy with an almost pleading look, as if even he knew deep down in his subconciousness that something absolutely awful was happening--or would happen, if Jimmy didn't get his brain juices flowing again.

"Yes, Jimbo, this is exactly what's going on, no doubt 'bout it. I dunno what it is, so I wondered if maybe you did."

Ok!

Just then a blonde girl named Cindy Vortex walked into the Candy Bar. And saw local boy genius and his father at a table. She walked up to them curious of what they were doing. " Um hello Mr.Neutron. And Jimmy what are you doing?" Cindy asked obvisiously with nothing to do.

(( Yes, PLEASE stay on topic. ))

Jimmy stared at her with half-lidded eyes, lifting his brows in mild surprise. Stirring his milkshake a little more with the plastic straw he asked, "Why do you want to know what I'm doing? I'm sitting here talking to my father," he said, sighing. "Is there supposed to be more to it?" Glancing sideways, Jimmy noticed his father rubbing his spectacles and murmering something about yellow ducks, and then he faced Cindy again. "Well, it's not like I've got anything fun planned today, if that's what you mean..."
