[Mara=^.^=]

I'm guessing that since the majority of you watch Nickelodeon, you are at least vaguely familiar with Nick's series, the amazing and anime-ish "Avatar, the Last Airbender". Considering the sheer awesomness of the characters, storyline, and overall writing, I'm also guessing that a large number of you are fans.

As ANY good fan knows, there is some serious disagreement over the pairings and characters on the show. Some people think Toph is obnoxious, others find Katara to be an annoying goody-two-shoes, and still others think Iroh is the coolest thing since sliced bread. Some people FERVENTLY believe that Aang and Katara are perfect for each other, others think that the whole "opposites attract" thing means Zuko and Katara are destined for fireworks. Still others mix and match pairings, from TopxAang to TophxSokka and back again.

So yeah...let's all take the time to profess our opinions on the subject. Do you have a very strong opinion on any of the characters/pairings? It sure is great fuel for a good ol' fashioned debate! If you're female, are you a MAJOR Sokka fangirl? Have you hopped on the I-love-Zuko's-angst bandwagon? Or are you harboring secret cartoon affections for our favorite bald monk? Guys...I'd pose the same question to you, but I've found that guys are MUCH less likely to geek out over animated women than girls are to geek out over animated guys. Not to exclude you or anything...hey, if you think Thai Lee is the most gorgeous woman to ever be cell-shaded, then by all means, feel free to voice your opinion. We won't laugh...much :D

OK, I'm going to start off a major speal now. Queue the trumpets...dun dah duh dun! It's time for SHIP WARS to commence!

Firstly, I think you should all know that I'm a MAJOR Kataang shipper. So for all you other vicious Kataang shippers out there, you now officially have Administrative power on your side. I never thought I'd end up as "the man", but hey, moderator power rocks! Go me! :rock:

That said, I don't particularly mind TophxAang, even though I think that Toph is a bit on the obnoxious side. However, I despise Zutara with a burning passion, and I'll tell you why. In my opinion, the pairing is just a way for Zuko to cure his angst...Katara is merely a device by which he is able to "heal". I mean, how many pictures have you seen of Katara healing his burn scar? It's majorly cliche. And besides...what about Katara? What would she see in him? It's so out of character...he's rash and angst-driven, she's responsibility and relationship driven. I know a bunch of people seem to think that the whole "opposites attract" thing is the way to go, but I've got news for you. You have to have SOMETHING in common with another person for a relationship to even be remotely feasible. In addition, the two people have to be able to respect their differences, and even for all you love-hate relationship lovers, there has to be AFFECTION there.

In another deduction for Zutara, there is tons of evidence to support Kataang, but none to support Zutara. And I'm sorry, the whole scene with Katara's mother's necklace in "The Waterbending scroll" does not count. That was bribery, not romance. I hardly call being tied to a tree and threatened romantic. Whatever events that followed that could possibly be construed as foreshadowing are NOT evidence, merely speculation. SO yeah, eat that, people who insist Zutara is real right now and that we're all blind for not picking up on the obvious signs. :bunny:

That said, I also support SokkaxSuki, SokkaxThaiLee (just dreaming on my part) and MaixZuko (or Maiko for those of you who enjoy using the "combined" names). Iroh is my homedawg, and Azula is pretty much the biggest biotch ever. Aang is my favorite character, and if he weren't a 112 year old animated character I'd totally dig him. Avatar Kyoshi is the coolest woman EVA, and Master Pakku is a sexist butthead who needs Katara to whoop him. Toph is the most amazing earthbender I've ever seen, but she needs a lesson in people skills (or the writers should have made her a teenager...I would have related to her much better then). Zuko looks much better after his haircut, but he looks far too much like my stepbrother (minus the giant disfiguring scar) for me to ever find him "attractive".
King Bumi rocks my fuzzy blue sox, and Jet is pretty dang awesome, even if he is slightly deranged. And that's basically the summary of my feelings on the show.

DANG, and it was a LONG summary. Guess I'll shut up now. I doubt if any of you will even read this all. Oh well...I love gabbing about Avatar, so it was worth it. Maybe I should make Avatar my next fansite project... :music:

I LOVE this show! One of the first anime shows i can actually watch and understand it! I love Zuko and Jet! For the shipping: I like Sokka and Suki, I like Momo and Appa, Jet and Azula, and definitely sorry Mara, Zutara! Also i like Aang and Toph!

I like the part where Katara is coming out of the water with her hair down. Hmmm if Aang had been more himself in the beginning of that epi/special I'm pretty sure he would have been lovestruck when he saw Katara with her hair down ;) ^_^
