They all thought it was the end of the world.
Cindy Vortex, a girl living in the time of the Great Depression, is a resident of Retroville, Texas. The sky there is not so cheerful in the country, though. A dust storm brewing up north finally collects to where it spills unto its southern states. That's how it was for years to come. On a particularly dirtier and windier day than usual, Cindy (even though warned by her father not to) trods over to her best friend's, Jimmy Neutron's, house.
The reason her father had warned her not to go was because Jimmy had relapsed back into dust pneumonia, having gone into it twice before. Her visit was initially to tease him about being sick, but in his last hour, all words go silent. His mother's sobs bring reality to Cindy. Her heart aches for her childhood love as she leaves the house emptily after one last confrontation to his deceased body.
In some ways for the people of the Dust Bowl, the world really did end.

My apologies for the emo summary. I was watching an info. video on the Dust Bowl and heard that story. I was so moved I wanted to create a something out of it. ^^; The original story was about a brother and sister (the brother dying), and the mom becoming depressed. Emo, yes, but very sad.

And people want to include April because April ROCKS! She is definitely one of the coolest characters, and she's only in Win Lose and Kaboom. Personally, I want to write a summary with her in it as well, but I'm having a hard time thinking of something that hasn't been said already. :lol:

Awww man... I don't think I can enter this one... I have to do a project and I've stalled enough on here anyway... So I have to go basically NOW and do the darn thing... Gah, that sucks... Then again, a summary doesn't take awhile. If I get an idea before I go to bed tonight, I'm coming back on. XD

Months after Jimmy and the others play on the gameshow Intergolatic Showdown, Jimmy gets a warp email from April the Gorlock. But, this time shes inviting them to her Birth Ceremony. (Birthday) Before April can become a respected gorlock she has to find a plant called Emphreilla to please her father. So Jimmy volunteers to help her find the plant. Is Jimmy doing the right thing or is he putting his friends in danger?
Gwen's Commentary: Ooh, do I smell adventure? Or is that the overwhelming aroma of JxA? This one has GWEN WRITE ME written all over it...

It's the dark of the night, and a Gorlockian invasion has occured! With their new evil King HeAHHHHHHHHHkari, the Gorlocks are going to try and take over earth! They suceed, but when the Rebellion gets a hold of it, can April and the gang save the day? Can Star actually write a decent enough summary to win this contest?
Gwen's Commentary: Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, conflict! The earthlings save Planet Gorlock only to have them come and conquer their planet later. Wow, no telling what this will do to JxA. :wub: Plus, she gets extra points for that incredible name there. XD

Gwen's Commentary: Can you say ORIGINAL? SHEESH. I love this one. I LOVE IT. I also love the fact that it's set in the thirties. Flappers+Great Depression=ZOMGVOCABBB...! --breathes again-- Magnificent.
2) In the story, it is April's 18th birthday, and she's not exactly ready for it. Eighteen is the appropriate year to be married but she does not want to commit yet (especially with her two friends teasing her about the dress she has to wear along with her long hair during hunting season). She must find a suitor though... and fast. Meanwhile, deep in the depths of Gorlock's only palace lies the answer to her problems (Meldar's cuffs), where she'd placed them years ago.
Seeking them out and dusting them off, she manages to use them to power one of the Gorlockian battle ships for her trip. Bidding her friends goodbye and leaving in the secrecy of night, she ventures off to find the only male species she'd ever been fond of; Jimmy Neutron of Earth.
Disguising herself as an human she seeks Jimmy out to confront him about becoming her mate. An awkward, but sweet bonding follows as their relationship and trust becomes stronger. Follow the story, where you learn that the tough alien girl has a weak spot after all; love.
Gwen's Commentary: Krista, you're amazing. Look at that DETAIL. DETAAAAIIILLLL. This story would be amazing to write. AMAZINGGG. I would be proud to write it. I really would.
