Inspired by the Cartoons Revisited As Anime thread, I'm doing this poll to see if you guys like light-hearted stuff or darker, edgier, scarier stuff.

For me, I like it both ways.

80% of the time it's the darker things that attract me, but I also like them to have a bit of light. There's only so much "wah wah wah I'm emo. Death destruction and decay" that I can put up with before I have to watch the Happy Show Show.

Latley I've really been liking mixed comedy/action shows so I guess both :P
Like Pokemon to Dragon Drive to Katekyo Hitman Reborn, all three have both comedy and some dark action in it. Oh and GetBackers, forgot to add that. I've been getting really into anime latley

Yeah, I figured such. :) I just probably won't be going to watch the darker shows/movies save for Batman since I still have trouble sleeping if I watch any of the HP movies 4-6 just before bed. x3

I like shows that zip between them fast enough to give you whiplash.

I've recently realized about myself that when it comes to t.v. (or internet) shows I prefer comedy, but when it comes to movies I prefer drama. Of course there's always exceptions, but that's how it usually seems to be. I have no idea why.

Nowadays, I still prefer most anything I read, watch, or play to be lighthearted, though now I can handle a bit of creepiness now and then for a brief adrenaline rush, like documentaries online about true/real life crime, mysterious disappearances, stories of really close calls or near-death experiences, hair-raising stuff about things that actually happened to people, you get the idea. But I still can't handle gore, excess blood, paranormal crap, suicide, etc... :onfire: Other than slightly creepy stuff like I just mentioned, I can't handle anything darker than that... >.< The rest of the stuff I do I prefer to be lighthearted, like kids shows, nature documentaries, funny animal videos, movie bloopers or funny scenes, and so on... ^_^

Mostly, I like lighthearted things. (There are some exceptions, of course.)

As far as tv is concerned (and to a lesser extent movies, which I don't really watch as much), I prefer lighthearted with a few darker moments or story arcs thrown in, or something that is designed from the get-go to be a balance between the two. This is pretty easy to achieve in cartoons, which forms the majority of what I watch.

For books, I like either a balance of the two or something on the darker side with a happy or at least hopeful ending, with occasional comic relief or lighter moments to break the doom and gloom. Though I do like reading some books that are more on the lighthearted and funny side now and then, to bring my mood up. Mostly middle grade, though. I like a lot of goofiness and whimsy in middle grade.
