jimmy is a cool guy. he's highly intelligent, his quirks makes me , and he has a lot of self confidence.

i don't care for his hair-do, but he does have some charm nonetheless.

his ego can get annoying though, but i find it funny when his ego gets him into arguements with cindy.

:Jimmy:
I really like Jimmy as a character, but like with Cindy, I do have some issues with him.

I should probably start by saying that I LOVE how smart he is! God, I wish I could be that smart...

I also love Jimmy's self-confidence. It's great to have a hero who knows he's awesome! However, his self-confdence sometimes turns into arrogance, which is the source of my main problems with Jimmy.

First of all, his massively high IQ seems to have made him forget that he is still a kid. He acts like an adult, and seems to think he should be treated as one, even though he's not. (To be fair though, I think he has enough child-like moments to balance it out.)

It also annoys me how he thinks being smart is everything, and that any problem in life can be solved by some sort of mathematical equation.

Also, while he clearly loves his friends, he seems to take them for granted sometimes (this can be seen mostly when he uses them as his guinea pigs for his inventions).

That said, however, I think Jimmy overcomes these problems to an extent, over the course of the series.

At first, Jimmy's thinking is almost solely based on logic, and he doesn't use his emotions all that much. He sees Cindy as nothing but an intellectual rival (or at least, he thinks he does ;)), and while he likes Sheen and Carl as friends, he often takes them for granted and uses them to test his inventions. The only people Jimmy is really open about his emotions with are his parents.
He is also very independent, and tries to solve everything himself.

In Season 2, however, Jimmy starts to be more open, and realize that there is more to life than science and logic. We mostly see this in A Beautiful Mine, Holly Jolly Jimmy and The Retroville 9.
I think the Love Potion made Jimmy start to realize that he might just possibly have feelings for Cindy. While Sheen recognized his feelings for Libby right away, however, Jimmy still hasn't quite grasped the idea of him and Cindy.
We see in The Great Egg Heist that Jimmy has started to recognize his friends' talents. He is still very independent though.

Win, Lose & Kaboom is the episode where Jimmy finally learns to trust his friends, and serves as his final realization that science can't solve everything.
(This was one of the few episodes where I was actually on Cindy's side, and it was Jimmy I wanted to smack!)
I think this is also where Jimmy fully realizes that he has feelings for Cindy. He immediately denied that April was his girlfriend, or that they were kissing, when Cindy accused them. He was even ready to kiss Cindy at the end!

In Season 3, Jimmy is much more relaxed about science, and has learned to fully appreciate his friends, as he is seen having fun with them much more often (like in Fundemonium), and doesn't really use them as guinea pigs anymore (his attempt to send them into another dimension in League of Villains notwithstanding <_<).
We can also see that his relationship with Libby has greatly improved. At first, I think he just saw her as Cindy's best friend, but now he clearly sees her as a friend of his, and even refers to her as such in Crouching Jimmy, Hidden Sheen.
While he now acknowledges his feelings for Cindy, and she seems ready to enter a relationship with him, Jimmy still doesn't quite seem comfortable with the idea (as seen in King of Mars). He gets over this in the end, however, proven when he was the one to make the first move in Lady Sings the News ^_^.
But I think the ultimate sign that he has grown is in League of Villains, when he trusted Zix and Travltron - his enemies - to save him!

Wow... that was a long post.
:Jimmy:

Anybody else noticed maturing (or other psycological changes) in him and his gang between movie and season 3? I think I have - even in Jimmy's voice.

And I got to remind that I like his old self. Must have been more "playful" than he was later or something. Hopefully he and other chars will be reverted for the official reboot. If not, then there's AMD's fanreboot  :D

Why the heck do you think he could be made not as mature as he's come to be by the end of Season Three?? That would mean he'd become more ignorant of his friends and their problems, and that would seriously affect his and Cindy's blossoming relationship negatively. He'd also care relatively less about any danger that would befall Retroville, or even Earth itself, cuz of any of his inventions' mishaps. His parents would also become less trusting of him due to his carelessness; he probably wouldn't have as much common sense, either. In short, he'd be more like Sheen; he'd have a giant IQ still, but more of an attitude like Sheen has, which would be IMMENSELY OOC for him. Do you really think you'd like him being that way?? I know I wouldn't... <_<

I don't think I meant that...maybe our fanreboot will give more exact answer once it's finished. At least one of screenplays is few empty spots away from completion.

Can't believe it's been this long since the post I'm quoting had been posted!! :o

Anyway, yeah, I really, REALLY wanted to smack the fire outta him in WLK throughout the first half of it! I am glad he learned his lesson, though! He sure acted so arrogant and self-reliant during that time; the first time I saw that special, I found myself facepalming the whole time during the first half, going, "Jimmy, don't argue with Meldar! ... Seriously, dude?! ... Ugh, really, Jimmy?! ... For once, I'm siding with Cindy!! ... Puking PLUTO, dude!! Don't send Goddard out! ... You're gonna get the Earth blown up; listen to them! ... Ya may as well get voted off, Jim! ... Alright, fine, I'll give you another chance, but you'd better listen to your friends!! ... Well, it's about time! Carl came through, instead! ............ Just trust your gut, for once, so y'all can snap outta hypnosis! ... Now THAT'S more like it!"

Reviving! I mean seriously, how can you not love the guy?? Sure, he's arrogant at times in the show, but give the kid a break! He's only eleven there, so he's still learning the right ways to act in various scenarios...! However, I do wonder how he would've behaved had there been a Season Four... He'd likely be in a full blown relationship with Cindy, and not care who knew it. He'd probably rely on his friends even more than in Season Three, and definitely not yelling at them much. Sheen would likely be very grateful for that, I bet! He would hardly ever rely on them as test subjects for experiments, and might've even started working with Cindy in his lab...! I would've "killed" to have seen that! I really wish they had been able to do Season Four! Jimmy would've been even better than he is now in it, I think! :kawaii:  <3

I do think it would've been really interesting to see Jimmy's character progress in SSN 4. He grew a ton in 3 by becoming sore sure of the parts his friends had to play and almost coming to rely on them. I mean, I was just watching the one where he gets pinned for a crime he didn't commit and I found it interesting that he goes, willingly, when he's on the run, to Cindy. Sure, it was easy because she was right there, but I think it shows a level of vulnerability that really hammers in how much he has come to trust her.

I don't know if I agree that he would be totally cool with being identified as 'together' with Cindy.

Because while he certainly does hold her hand at the end of League of Villains (where arguably almost everyone can see, but we don't get concrete proof that he doesn't let go once they are inside) he does seem uncomfortable with their 'secret' being exposed on the air in LSTN. In fact, I am pretty sure that no other dirt is revealed about Jimmy or Cindy. Libby knows that their fledgling relationship is enough to embarrass them. Even Cindy is still defensive about it. (I mean, she literally punches a guy for teasing her about Jimmy).

Then again, they do flirt quite openly in front of the news crew, which is kind of weird considering most of their other 'flirtations' occur when they are alone.

Anyway, all this is to say that I think he knows how he feels about Cindy, but he's not quite ready for everyone ELSE to know just yet. Or perhaps he's not ready for what it means for himself. He still cares about how others view him a bit too much. However, he's almost there! Which is why it was so disappointing we couldn't see him reach a moment when he verbalized his affection in front of others. (Other than in the Jimmy Timmy Power Hour 2 and 3 which...... I ignore). ;)

I hope that makes sense. It probably doesn't.

No, that makes perfect sense, Katie! Spot on! highfive.gif Had they done a Season 4, I strongly believe their relationship would've progressed, and more people would've progressively found out about it. Not just Libby would know, and I think Carl witnessed them kiss in LSTN, so not just him, either... Jimmy would likely be less conceited and full of himself and would be quick to rely on his friends, too. ;) Also noticed in LSTN that he did that finger walking thing on Cindy's arm, just like Hugh does with Judy, so like father, like son. He'd definitely be more open with his feelings if there'd been a Season 4. He'd still try to be cautious about who knew it, though... He'd also be a lot nicer to Carl and Sheen, and would be much less arrogant... nod.gif

I would say Jimmy is my second fav character. I would have to agree that he definitely matured throughout the show. I think he can have a big ego at times, but that tends to happen with people with very high IQ's. One thing I really like about Jimmy is his friendship with Carl and Sheen. Even though they are not as smart as him, he still is very patient with them and is a good friend to them. I've heard arguments that he is a bad friend because he performs experiments on them, therefore taking advantage of them, but I don't really agree with that. Carl and Sheen genuinely seem to want to be friends with Jimmy and don't appear to be forced into testing his experiments (Carl maybe is a little more apprehensive, but Sheen seems like he actually likes it, haha).

Also, I think some people are hard on Jimmy, saying he is selfish and should be doing humanitarian things like curing cancer, but they seem to forget that he's still an eleven year old boy at heart and just wants to have fun!

You hit the nail on the head right there, girl! Sure, he's pretty ambitious sometimes with his experiments and inventions, but he's only eleven in the show, so I wouldn't expect him to do anything really major like solve world hunger or cure the common cold or cancer... However, I can definitely see him doing things like that once he's an adult... ^_^ Plus, as you mentioned, he doesn't experiment on his friends just cuz he can without their consent; he makes sure they're okay with it first, though Carl is oftentimes hesitant to at first, while Sheen seems to actually enjoy it, especially if it involves him getting shocked or being put through some kinda physical pain... I swear, I will never understand that about that guy...! ^^; :P It would be downright bizarre if Jimmy suddenly took a strong liking to that for no apparent reason...!

I don't know, Jimmy has an advantage over his friends that they don't have over him. I'm pretty sure he's at least somewhat aware of this. Like, there are times when Carl says no to something, or expresses discomfort with it, but Jimmy convinces him to do it instead of just accepting the no.

Also, while he is a kid, he also figured out how to time travel and read minds. (And he made the sick patch!) Curing disease is within his wheelhouse.

Yeah, you make a valid point there. He is entirely capable of doing lots of stupendous things; he's a frikkin' genius! :kawaii: Also, yeah, he usually manages to talk Carl into a lot of things, that is, except when he tried to get him to vote for him in Jimmy For President, in which case Carl was already pressured to vote for the rest of them before Jimmy showed up at his door... ^^;

Jimmy was always one of my favorite characters on this show along with Sheen and Hugh. I always loved the fact that he was a scientific genius at such a young age. I don't remember the episodes that much but he was definitely one of my favorites. I mean, how you could you not love an eleven year old child prodigy who excels at math and science? Even though he is a cartoon character, when I was younger, I was actually jealous of him that he was so good at math and science while I was never good at math at all. If you want to know a little secret, I think the reason why I grew to love science, especially chemistry and astronomy so much, is because of Jimmy. Science never became my favorite subject in school until I reached middle school which was when I used to watch JN. Before that it was always art and music class. I watched this show back when I was in middle school because that's when it was on and yes, I think because of Jimmy, he made me love chemistry and astronomy, so thank you, Jimmy.

The fact that he's egotistical never bothered me because every person I've ever known that is a genius has been like that. I guess it's just a natural trait of a genius to think they're all that and the greatest.

I always liked that he was loyal to Sheen and Carl and truly saw them as his friends and I love that he ended up with Cindy in the end of the series because I was always a J/C shipper. Even though back then I didn't really care about who ended up with who that much, once I entered high school and watched the show, then I started to really like it. Their love/hate relationship I actually thought was kind of cute, not annoying because most kids do that to each other when they like someone when they are young, they usually always pick on them and say they hate them but deep down, they actually like each other. A lot of kids who are rivals sometimes wind up becoming best friends/couples.

So yeah, that's how I always felt about Jimmy. He's the one that made me fall in love with science which I still love to this day. So thank you, Jimmy!

Science rules!

Definitely some good points there, Katie. I wouldn't doubt that he's be able to cure disease, but that is something I can see him doing when he gets older (I think Emily said this, too). I think he is well aware that he has an advantage over his friends, but eleven year old boys tend to be somewhat selfish if we're going to be honest. I think it is realistic for Jimmy to try and convince his friends to test his experience. Not saying it's right, per se, but that he is still an immature kid at heart.
